Just fix ALL of the current bugs in all of the operating systems. There is absolutely no excuse that we have the same dumb programming errors for nearly ten years. It is not like Apple is unaware of their short comings in programming, they have made its perfectly clean they do not care, to be polite.

The money spent on the car and googles would have been better spent making a rock solid operating system. Apple's software is getting to be a lot like Windows, but al least Microsoft sends out weekly patches to fix last week's patches.

This symbol  must represent the apple programmers as they can not see all of their errors. Same for the supposedly "Quality Control" folks. They must be on permanent vacations.

App Library is annoying enough the way it rearranges app groups, so you still have to hunt for the app.

It would be incredibly irritating to have this functionality on your Home Screen.

A silly idea, but howabout this: on device setup you are given a couple of exercises to see how far a single thumb reaches into the screen and then the on-device AI personalises the entire UX making nothing out of reach when using a phone one-handed.

Software 'designers' always seem to have skipped their ergonomics class when it comes to building apps. No, I can't reach the top-left of the screen with a thumb. Stop putting things up there.
I love this idea. I have widgets at the top of my Home Screen for this reason. Sadly you can't do this with App Library.

They just don't care, as you said.
If it works well enough generally, they are more interested in things that "make number go up".

This can already be done with the siri suggestions widget,

dthe widget dynamically changes and never shows the same app twice. it works best when you have 2 medium sized widgets on the same home screen

This is probably the worst idea I've ever heard of. Home screen is a big use of muscle memory for me. Heck I've even accidentally rearranged apps and then would launch the wrong app because I was so used to tapping at that location.

Stop trying to shove AI into everything!

Unsurprising that this was rejected. Who would want their app locations to be shuffled all the time?

I would. When you pull down to search you get relevant apps for the time of day, location etc anyway.

It could only be the first page and grumblers can just turn it off. Just because YOU don't want something doesn't mean it may not be useful to others.

The person that came up with this idea is probably the same one who thinks it is a good idea to switch the volume buttons when an ipad is used in landscape orientation.

The feature would dynamically change the locations of apps on the Home Screen according to users' needs. Federighi reportedly rejected the idea, believing that it would disorient users, many of whom rely on knowing the fixed location of apps on their Home Screen for quick access.

What, you mean like the Siri smart folder which I have on my home screen right now? Hasn't this machine learned behaviour been a thing with Apple for at least 5 years?

Honestly. The Home Screen just needs to give me the spotlight. As default. When I unlock my phone. Just give me a keyboard and above it suggestions. And let me type and choose what I want.

I would like to at least tinker with it. With the folders in the App Library, it seems to sort them by most used category and then within each folder by the most used app (until you open the folder then it goes to alphabetical). I remember years ago thinking ’I wish it would sort my apps by most used"

If Apple want us to want and appreciate AI, then do this:

Make sure that words we add to the spelling dictionary get included in suggested words.
Make sure that words we add to the spelling dictionary add the various forms such as plurals/singulars, conjugations, tenses, etc.

I'm not suggesting it invents them, but when we add them, do some real referencing of existing languages corpuses, etc., to find verified possibilities. Maybe it should ask if we want to do that? Maybe there should be an added words review tool which goes through the words and offers these other forms?

I write a lot about medicines and often have to add words.

Today I learned that loads of people still actually use 'muscle memory' to find apps on their phone... 🤯

While I do try to keep all of the apps installed on my phone nicely organized into relevant folders, 99% of the time I am opening an app via Search (which conveniently auto-populates apps based on the time of day I typically use those apps) or a shortcut in Command Center. I don't really see this idea being all that different from the Siri App Suggestions Widget – in fact, it really just sounds like a lazy rebranding exercise – but people didn't seem to get their panties in a bunch over that feature, so why now? Oh, right, AI... 😏

They should use AI to fix all the bugs and issues in all Apple software since it seems apples human engineers can’t seem to do it themselves.
Right, because that seems to be working so well with Microsoft right now.

Glad that was rejected, what a stupid idea. I like my apps where I know where they are, categorized into my own folders, I certainly don't want iOS shuffling my icons around.
