All the rumours I’ve read about this streaming service aren’t good. Apple can’t secure deals, overly regulated content... now bundled with Apple Care (Why not Apple Music?) because it can’t stand on its own.

Overly regualated content? Is that a rumour or people on here just whinging? Apple haven’t tried to censor Apple Music why would they censor a streaming app?

Even though I get AppleCare (and just recently used it), I really hate the idea of bundling content with it, that’s just a horrible situation and hopefully will never happen.

This whole thing sounds like a disaster.
Apple is such an amazing company... it’s the only one in the world that has so many fans concerned for their well-being.

I can’t imagine they don’t appreciate it, though. I’m sure they enjoy being the most valuable company in the world, with the help of fans like us! :)

I just have such a bad feeling about Monday. Idk why and I hope it’s great, but man, it just seems like a “hey, we have something like you guys (PS Vue, Hulu, YoutubeTV,etc) too! If their plan is to entice people with their own shows...good luck.

In terms of the news subscription, I feel like that’s such a niche market. Unless they bundle news, tv/movies and Apple Music together, it’s gonna be a tough sell. Only thing that would intrigue me is if they managed to include their full iTunes Store movie’s & shows for a subscription. Like Apple Music was to the iTunes Store
I’ve always said that they should do an iTunes Store streaming service. I’d pay.

I don’t believe this for a second. If the content is good enough, I may consider cutting Netflix.

The only way I can see this interesting is if they turn their whole iTunes video library into a subscription streaming service (similar to Apple Music) (with full access to all content) for a competitive monthly subscription fee.

Even if Apple could secure all those rights for a streaming subscription service—which they can’t—it would be so expensive you wouldn’t be willing to pay it.

Typically when a company spends 1,000 million dollars on something we refer to that as “a billion dollars”, not “a couple million dollars”.
With his definition, I think I want to ask that TV exec if I can crash on his couch for a couple days.... then stay for three years.

I often wonder if these rumours of flying by the seat of their pants and last-minute decisions are really how things operate in the Mother Ship.

Difficult to fanthom a trillion dollar company would be in that much disarray and be so indecisive.

Subscription via AppleCare I could accept - but that sounds too reasonable and inexpensive for that to come to fruition.

Nothing to do with being a trillion dollar company...
Those of us old enough to remember, may be reminded of the last minute decision in 2007 to switch the original iPhone screen from plastic to glass- or perhaps the last minute decision that same year to change the Apple logo on the iMac from white to black.
Apple was absolutely firing on all cylinders then & was likely at its creative peak.
Minor tweaking, down to the wire, is neither something new and unusual, nor something alarming & indicative of disarray.

Amazons anchor is prime shipping. Can AppleCare for all your devices happen with an annual fee that includes free perks like this video streaming ? That’s doubtful. AppleCare is one of their main drivers of services revenue. I can see why they’d like more AppleCare revenue though.

Maybe Apple should revamp the series 24. Instead of jack bauer you have Tim Cook as he races to put together this event forcing content providers to sign on. Trump could guest star.

Nyt: no Tim. Tim: dammit. Tell me what I want to hear.

I just can't wait to hand over my hard-earned money to Apple so they can pay the stars of their original content massive, ridiculous amount of money! $1.1M per episode? No thanks. I'll keep my money.

Apple seems to be out of their element here. Movie/TV market is not like hardware/software where secrecy is paramount. For Apple to succeed, it needs to let Hollywood know what exactly is an “Apple movie/tv show”
And then get out of the way to let them create content to fit that criteria.

This means being open, which Apple is not used to.

On a side note..... anyone else realize Apple updated a bunch of hardware before this upcoming event. But they did not update the Apple TV?

If Hollywood doesn’t get it yet, they will after Monday. But I find the rumors surrounding this streaming service so far have ranged from 1) sour grapes from someone who didn’t make the grade; to 2) yeah, that never happened; to 3) yup that sounds exactly like something Apple would do! lol. Apple has wanted a certain amount (as in a lot) of secrecy pre-launch, but on Monday all will be revealed. Not sure there’s any reason for anyone outside of Apple to be concerned; they’ll figure it out.

re: Apple TV, I’m not expecting any updates to the product line because I don’t think it needs any, except maybe a new remote. I suppose there’s the possibility of a low(er) cost streamer in a dongle or stick form factor, but if Apple had plans for something like that I think there would have been supply chain chatter/leaks to that effect. Maybe there was and I just missed it.

That would be the most random and unrelated offer ever
I know right? Whoever suggested that should be fired on the spot. That’s like hey thanks for buying a PS4, here’s a dog blanket we’re going to throw in for free! WTF

Did you read my entire post? Nowhere did I say it will be bundled with Apple Care. I’m talking about the rumours... because this is MacRumours.

You definitely didn’t read the article. The rumor is that Apple considered it, along with many other options.

only way this works is if theres alot of bundled content services together or if Apple gives this away as a perk to iPhone owners with AppleCare+

REmember Apple is late to the party with its streaming service. By September Disney and many others will have their own streaming service

Apple won’t even give you decent free iCloud storage when you spend thousands on an MacBook Pro.

It’s not about the experience or making products that delight anymore. It’s about the bottom line and squeezing every cent out of customers who are in their eco-system.

If there’s any indication, the tv streaming will be pure crap just like how MacBooks stopped being good after 2015. They aren’t innovating much l, save the notch and full screen with the X. Tim mentioned wanting it all to be family friendly. Well, I like family friendly stuff. But I also like chicks getting it on and hack n slash n stuff. If Tim has regulated it much then it’s gonna be like how Disney used to be all G/PG films.

Offer it to free to anyone who buys an iPhone or iPad in the trade in program.

That gives you AppleCare and pushes people into the program.

That pushes them to upgrade more often aka every 2 years instead of 4.

You’d get equipment to recycle, which you could then resell for even more profit.

Apple would make money over money to increase iPhone sales and in turn only spend a few million dollars for content.
Reselling hardware that you have to trade in? Lsd?

Apple Music is censored. Playlists only contain clean versions of songs, and titles are ****’d out.

Just look at Project Titan (car) and the constant reorganization associated with that project. When Apple ventures into the unknown, things often don’t work as planned.

The unknown car, haha
I see a lot of cars every day ... oh man how appled can someone become

Apple already has an extensive library in iTunes...

I was really hoping one day we could stream the whole lot not just music.

Obviously this won’t ever happen, they rather invest in horrible exclusive content no one will care about.
