Same here. Had no plans to update our phones, but my wife's phone 6S+ became unusable under 40% and my 6S kept dying around 20%.

Ended up getting iPhone 8's over Thanksgiving only to have it revealed new batteries would have solved our problems.

I'm in the same boat. Got tired of my 6s+ being slower and slower, so I upgraded to the 8+ when it came out, and subsequently to the X. But I honestly had expected to hold out another year for a new iPhone because I loved my 6s+ before software updates started slowing everything down.

This is ridiculous. Apple needs new leadership if this is how they are operating now. This is a non-issue. It never needed to be an issue. If Tim Cook had just kept his mouth shut, this would have faded away and Apple engineers could continue to do their job.

Tim has blown tons of cash and good faith on this issue. He's a joke.
You're pretty hilarious. According to your sources, how much cash has he "blown" on this?

Never mind that at this point, it might actually be a revenue positive. Increased traffic in stores, $29 battery replacement is not a loss for Apple, customer goodwill, etc.

I paid for a new battery (iPhone 6) at the end of December. It was 99$ in Canada, and the price dropped to 35$ a week after.

I called Apple and they sent me a check for the difference.
