Great! Now I have to worry about which skin tone I send out so as to NOT be offensive to the recipient. :roll eyes:

No you don't.

why is skin color a race then?

Good question. The answer rests in American and European history, and the need to use pseudo-science to help justify imperialism and control other others.

Also, this is a really good read to help some ignorant folk understand more about what actually does constitutes racism.

The word most of you all are looking for is

PREJUDICED.

Yellow people emojis

They should just remove the yellow "people" emoji and just keep the skin tones "people" emoji to keep it plain and simple.

Actually, they don't. They have same sex emojis, but you are not able to make ANY couple/family emojis reflect interracial relationships.

Guess it's more "inclusive" to have an emoji for gold gay people than to have one for me "white" and my "black" husband. /s
They're adding that soon

Do they have mixed race couples, same sex couple etc?

If people want to change the colour fair enough, I personally don't mind the Yellow character as its not about representing me, it's about conveying emotion through text which is difficult and often misread, I don't see how the colour of the emoticon changes that.

I didn't see it as racist that everyone was Yellow either, it's more racist to highlight differences, we're all different in many ways, why do we highlight skin colour, seems strange. How will we ever get past it if we keep highlighting differences.

All I want are emoticon that can convey emotion as that's often the biggest problems when texting for me. I'm often looking for an emoticon to convey some meaning and it's not there... Like, where is the DOH emoji?

Yes! Anyone else find this excursion into madness disgusting?

It's just an avatar. It's not supposed to be a representation of you exactly. I mean, people will start demanding that there be a symbol with brown hair and blue eyes, and what about the camels, and why are there no black cows, and who decided that poo would look like that, and why isn't there...

It's a slippery slope. Starbucks just got smacked over their attempts to racially troll their customers. Is that what Apple is doing?

Why cant they stay yellow?

They are not yellow, they are white. This isn't for the yellow emoji (the smiley faces), it's for the people emoji which are all white. Macrumors used a poor example. The people emoji start on the 3rd page on the iPhone.

----------

That's the question many of us had, but for some reason this is a huge racist issue that emojis are yellow and somehow only represent the white populace.

Hellifiknow...

Why are you referring to the yellow emoji? The skin tone modifiers are intended for the people emoji which are all white, not the yellow smiley face emoji. The people emoji start on the 3rd page on the iPhone.

What is the point? I never even used the "white/Caucasian/European/European-American/etc" emoji just the standard yellow smily. do people even use the more "natural" looking emojis? only time i went that far was to use the pile of poop icon.

Exactly my feelings. Much ado about nothing as no one gives a **** about those emojis. Delete them all and let's move on.

Now I'll be able to text about the gang members I saw and illustrate with custom Emoji, or do similar when I spot someone robbing a convenience store.

Hey remember: This is America. And in 2015, that means that if you accidentally don't include someone, or mention every type of someone ever possible in past present or future,

Or don't agree or acknowledge every single organization when you speak,

Then YOU suffer from an -ism of some sort, which makes you some sort of
-ist!

/not really sarcastic either

Edit: It is sarcasm...but still sadly true in our society these days in many cases.
in this politically correct world, no matter what you say or do, you will always offend someone.

Adding more stereotypical emojis makes the problem worse. Then again, Apple does not have the guts to enable the middle finger one cause it would offend young families  even though it will be the most popular teenage emojii:D:cool:
