With those white bezels, absolutely. I mean it's the least bad.
Ok then. The only thing I’m disappointed in is the removal of the Apple logo on the chin. Otherwise I think the silver version is perfect.

If the bezels cause you embarrassment, you could always use black tape to cover them. Cost you less than a dollar and will make for a fun art project.

FWIW, some education market contracts have required machines to be available for "X" number of years. They almost always linger so they can be easily replaced as needed. Do not see many schools adopting M1 short term unless they suddenly have budget increases.
But don't you think $1099 is pricey for a dual core 7th gen i5 chip? Something priced like the Mac mini would be much better. That's why I think $499 would be perfect for something like this. Perfect for the office.

The 1080p screen is so bad since they got rid of subpixel antialiasing. That and the horrendous performance of the 7th gen Intel chip.

Ah, Apple, how you do disappoint me, let me count the ways.

Cons.

1) No 27 inch iMac model.
2) Old M1 instead of newer M1X or M2.
3) Chin on iMac.
4) Ugly colors with no Black or Space Gray model. No Cherry Red version.
5) Big ugly white bezels. Black would be better.
6) Not a fan of the rounded keys in the corners of the new keyboards.
7) Lame 16GB max RAM.
8) No Thunderbolt 4.
9) 4.5K Retina. No 5K or 6K model.
10) no Ethernet port (requires a dongle).
11) macOS Big Suck or later.
12) All ports on the back instead of the front or on the bottom of display like God intended.
13) Storage soldered to the motherboard.

Pros

1) 3.5 mm headphone jack.

I agree, but I am giving them a pass for now. this is the mass-produced, consumer version. there is nothing pro or even prosumer about this machine. will have to wait for the next rev of the M1, whenever that is

I don't mind the design at all. Fun is fun and let people have colors if they want them of course. I find the false advertising about the screen size annoying (it's 23.5" in the small print, sorry but that's not 24" so why say it is?).

But ugh, the one thing I find really annoying is the lack of even a single standard USB port. Sure, it's way LESS annoying than the same issue in a laptop, because you won't be lugging the iMac around with you so you won't have to lug around (and lose) your adaptor(s), but why? Just why? Apple has to know that the vast, vast majority of USB is still, and seems set to remain, pre USB-C. Just give us one darn regular port.

Still, overall I'm sure these will be pretty nice.

Disappointed. No 32 inch option and no M1X option.
And the war on legacy ports continues. Apple ALWAYS prematurely pushes new I/O that barely ever pan out.

Well, Apple will sell special stickers made out of special colore metal, that you can put on the front of you computer. ;) It won't be cheap tho ...

This replaces the 21 inch iMac. Why is this so difficult for people to get? They even compared it to the 21 inch. Lol. This is much better than the 21 inch that it replaces. The replacement for the 27 hasn’t came

The I/O doesn't really bother me. most people in the consumer space use Wifi, almost no one has a printer anymore and USB C should suffice

Apple is such trash for keeping that 7th gen dual core iMac around. So many education customers buy that because it's the cheapest option. Slow as hell out of the box with an ancient processor.

USB4 has ditched the USB-A port. It’s time we all moved on. Let USB-A die already. It sucks.

The USB-C port is superior in every way.

Of course, it is not even a desktop CPU, but a mobile version (Core i5-7360U).

Look:

Core i5-7360U
Geekbench 4 (SC): 4513 Geekbench 4 (MC): 9338
Geekbench 5 (SC): 857 Geekbench 5 (MC): 2028

Core i3-8100B (the low end standard 21,5" 4K iMac from 2019)
Geekbench 4 (SC): 4611 Geekbench 4 (MC): 13403
Geekbench 5 (SC): 910 Geekbench 5 (MC): 3240

Core i5-10500 (the low end standard 27" 5K iMac from 2020)
Geekbench 4 (SC): 5544 Geekbench 4 (MC): 24812
Geekbench 5 (SC): 1127 Geekbench 5 (MC): 5654

There's no 16" MacBook Pro and no Mac Pro either. They will all come.

Apple said this transition was going to take 2 years. We aren't even a year in, and people are already complaining that not all the Apple Silicon products are available.
