Ah, Apple, how you do disappoint me, let me count the ways.

Cons.

1) No 27 inch iMac model.
2) Old M1 instead of newer M1X or M2.
3) Chin on iMac.
4) Ugly colors with no Black or Space Gray model. No Cherry Red version.
5) Big ugly white bezels. Black would be better.
6) Not a fan of the rounded keys in the corners of the new keyboards.
7) Lame 16GB max RAM.
8) No Thunderbolt 4.
9) 4.5K Retina. No 5K or 6K model.
10) no Ethernet port (requires a dongle).
11) macOS Big Suck or later.
12) All ports on the back instead of the front or on the bottom of display like God intended.
13) Storage soldered to the motherboard.

Pros

1) 3.5 mm headphone jack.
You forgot RAM soldered to the motherboard - I don't see an upgrade panel. I don't expect one on the 27" either. But then I've been depressed.

I think the larger screen size will show up as soon as apple has a more powerful chip....same with the 15 map replacement. These form factors (large iMac and large MBP) had faster processors than the lower end of the line. So they need a M1X or whatever they decide to call it processor to differentiate them.

Apple overshot their estimations in making progress on much larger scale unified memory SoC designs and have to punt for another 12-18 months. They jumped the shark.
Their estimate was replacing all Intel Macs within 24 months. After 7 months, all low end models have been replaced. 17 more months.

Now for 27" iMac to get redesign. Hope it will also have colours. Maybe the 27" will have less chin.

Super disappointed we didn't get a 27" replacement. I had my credit card ready. I just can't see myself downsizing from a 2020 27" to the new 24". Not a fan of dual monitors either
yup , same here. I might just get an m1 mac mini to connect to my 27 inch monitor now.

Although, I have four 27" iMacs in my office at home I will buy a 5th if and only if it is 27" or larger. Like everyone else I am disappointed in the 24" mini me version. I am hopeful since they bumped the 21" to a 24" iMac we probably will see a 30" iMac........sooner or later.

honest question: how do you even fit that many 27" Macs in one room? Your desk must be awesome.

Absolutely. I have 3 work station tables in my home office but I should more appropriately say 3 fun station tables given these are mostly fun machines.? I would retire one 27" iMac and make room for hopefully a 30" iteration.
