WTF? A little late for that! Why not take your time already, geesh. Maybe go on vacation for a month beforehand and spend some of your exorbitant salary

Were dying here buddy :D

I smell a clusterf*ck.

This rollout isn't one of the smoother ones. Perhaps Apple bit off more than they could chew, by launching 2 new phones at the same time.

Maybe Apple needs more lead time for such an unnecessarily complex device?

Maybe I am missing something, but what is unnecessarily complex about the iPhone X? Would you have preferred a 2D FaceID that can be fooled by photos like Samsung implemented?

This could be Apple's "Note 7" year if there are any widespread issues with iPhone X; and they likely won't have great iPhone 8 sales to fall back on, either.

If there are issues with iPhone X, some people may opt to get an iPhone 8/8+ instead, but I have a feeling that most will either keep using the iPhone they've been using or they may jump ship to Android. This has the potential to be one of the biggest miscalculations Apple has ever made, I think.

But, But, when I bring up that there was rumoured production issues in the other thread about now the X meeting demands, I was told I didn't know what I was talking about :p

This is what happens when a company grows large with hubris and assumes they can do no wrong. It’s been the downfall of many, many successful organizations.

This conflicts with what Kuo reported this morning. Sounds to me like no one really knows for sure and could be more clickbait. If Jeff Williams was already planning to attend TSMC's event, it makes sense that he'd meet with the Foxconn head while he's out there... but the article will get more clicks if the meeting is about addressing production issues of the most anticipated product this year.

It's cool how everyone is getting into a panic eh. Same thing happens each year

Seems appropriate:

Terry Gou
: Mr. Williams. This is an unexpected pleasure. We are honored by your presence.

Jeff Williams: You may dispense with the pleasantries, Chief. I am here to put you back on schedule.

Terry Gou: I assure you, Mr. Williams, my men are working as fast they can.

Jeff Williams: Perhaps I can find new ways to motivate them.

Terry Gou: I tell you that this product line will be operational as planned.

Jeff Williams: The CEO does not share your optimistic appraisal of the situation.

Terry Gou: But he asks the impossible. I need more men.

Jeff Williams: Then perhaps you can tell him when he arrives.

Terry Gou: [alarmed] The CEO is coming here?

Jeff Williams: That is correct, Chief, and he is most displeased with your apparent lack of progress.

Terry Gou: We shall double our efforts.

Jeff Williams: I hope so, Chief, for your sake. The CEO is not as forgiving as I am.

Did the other post from a few hours ago not say that KGI thinks the production woes are over? And sorry, there is no indication that this will have to do with the reported production issues. If the situation would be as dire as KGI says then Williams would have been in China weeks ago.

Looks more and more like Apple panicked when Samsung released the Galaxy S8 and had to rush the iPhone X to market far earlier than intended.

My words exactly. And let's be fair: If he was there to discuss the urgent production issues he would not be speaking to the chairman. He would talk to the engineers.

Time for the Romeos to get their game on and start hooking up with the Juliets faster!!
That might be the problem. ;) I mean, maybe it's just me, but code naming the modules after the doomed lovers is just too... well it's starting to look like one of those life imitates art kind of deals.

If Apple execs had asked me before hand I would have slapped 'em real quick and told them to "Don't even think about it". I would have told them to name the modules, in the immortal words of the greatest racer of all time: Shake and Bake. Shake and Bake.:D

Seriously Apple, Romeo did hella cocaine in the Wolf of Wallstreet. Did you really think he'd get his $#%& together and "ack rite" in your phone? C'mon.o_O

I hope Apple doesn't compromise on quality. Otherwise Apple's reputation and stock price will free fall. Apple has put most of their eggs into the iPhone while neglecting other products so it cannot afford a major slip up. It's best to have fewer phones available than have quality issues with massive returns/refunds.

Historically, Apple has shipped as many iPhones as possible at first, and then replaced any that new owners complain about. It's cheaper that way. They they either return them to Foxconn or refurb them locally and sell them again.

A good example was with all the scuffed early production black iPhone 5 that were sold anyway, then replaced if asked. Reportedly, 5-8 million were eventually sent back to Foxconn.

So an executive is having a meeting, where nobody knows the agenda, but we’ll pretend we know what it’s about based on rumors.

Agreed. While no doubt production will come up as a topic then, any really important discussion would be done right now.
