I don't understand the complaints. The album was never downloaded to my phone. I had to download it manually. I believe before I did that it was playable from the cloud, but it was not downloaded. So what was the problem?

Wow. People are really this ungrateful.

I don't get all of the hate either. so what if the album shows up in your account? that doesn't mean you have to listen to it or download it. The only reason I would want it removed from my account is if the artist was someone that I was for some reason morally opposed to being associated with in any way (for instance, they were anti-semitic or advocated hate in other ways). U2? I may not be a huge fan, but I don't mind having their album in my library for free and appreciate the gesture.

Come on

I mean, really. Was this something so bothersome that it required all this stink? If it had been an album by some artist I detested I would have just, well, uh, NOT DOWNLOADED IT and hidden it from my Previous Purchases. Goodness.

to think Apple spent so much money on this pos ... U2 should have been the one paying Apple not the other way around

No one is forced...

to listen to this album. It's your choice. Why complain? All Apple did was push the album to our devices. It's our choice whether or not to download the album. If not, it remains in the cloud, unaffected by your GB limit. Stop complaining dummies. Geeze, first world problems

It's not about that. At least to me it isn't. I know this will come off as blown out of proportion, but I feel kind of used, patronised. I never wanted this album, as I don't like U2, at all. And I don't want to be part of "the biggest album roll out ever" or any kind of media stunt.

I don't care if it's free. I can get any album I want for free if I want to, nobody cares about that in 2014.

Here's a thought. Turn off the option to show non-downloaded iCloud purchases and delete it locally/don't download it if you don't want it. How is that so hard? I have a pile of singles from bands I have never heard of that showed up in my iCloud history when that feature went live. No idea how they showed up and I certainly did not buy them. I was briefly concerned my account had been compromised. Verified with Apple support it wasn't and that was that. They're still there and I'm not screaming at Apple to delete them permanently. People will find ANYTHING to complain about these days.

I don't understand how could anyone don't want something for free?

I am sure that for a 100,000 people there is 1 crazy guy that don't want this album in their phone, even it is for free.

Maybe in the future on of your kids, family member, or friend want a song from this album, by deleting if with this tool you will have to pay for this album or get it for free on the net with low quality sound.

If I did not like U2 I could only remove it from my device, but I will have the option in the future to download it for free.

There are some good songs in the album and one of my favorite is: Every Breaking Wave

People buying expensive devices which are by their nature locked down with minimal user customization (Apple vs Android argument) would rather not have anything they don't want forced upon them. If, like many people, you dislike U2 I'd almost find that reason enough to purchase another brand on principal. Apple should actually offer this option for many apps they force us to have as well.

Nothing to do with being grateful - I could offer Bono a free kick in the groin but I doubt he'd be happy when I delivered it.

But really, as another poster in another thread pointed out, is this any different than the free Yellow Submarine book that showed up in iBooks when that was first announced? I don't recall anyone flipping out about that one... It was the same thing, a free optional download that appeared in your library for a limited period of time.

@5t3f4n, what's your email address I have some promotional advertising I'd like to send you. Don't worry it's free! Just post your primary email address and I'll send them right out to you. Once again, it's free!

You have a point. It's not really the biggest album roll out ever if they just hand it out to everyone.

I personally downloaded it simply because I could, and tried to listen to 3 songs before abandoning the album. To be fair, I'm not a U2 fan.

You live an easy and care-free life if you have enough time and energy dedicate to complaining about this.

I am still waiting for a samsung commercial making fun about this.

Samsung actually provided something similar in the past with an Jay-Z album but at least they had the courtesy to ask you to download an app first if you really wanted it

Automatic downloads? Just one of those features you disable immediately, like reversed scrolling and double-clicking windows to minimize. :p
