Actually, I think it is pretty great!

It is a FREE album that takes up virtually ZERO space on your device. Apple over estimated the intelligence and sanity of some of it's customers.

Actually it takes up 110.69 MB.

Geez is it really that serious? I'll likely never listen to the U2 album, but it's free. Thank you.

So this is what Jimmy and Dre were hired for? To give people music they don't want?

Wow. People are really this ungrateful.

Ungrateful??

For Apple violating my privacy and inserting something into my iTunes library without my permission? I wouldn't want someone to come in my house and set up a new bookcase without my knowledge, either. Even if it is "free". If that makes me ungrateful, then so be it.

Some consumers are jack-asses! Really, they are.

I had to download it. It didn't show up on it's own at all on any of my computers/devices.

It was a rather aggressive approach, but they wanted to have the crown for "largest album release ever", and they probably couldn't claim that if it was voluntary for people to add the album to their account.

Ba-ha-ha, I’m so using this… :D
For me, U2 peaked in the 90s and became downright unlisteneable in the 00s...

The album is awesome. Have you listened to it?

My iTunes library shows that the album was added to my library on 9/6 (it's still on icloud and not downloaded to my computer). Seems weird since the announcement wasn't till 9/9er.

Was never a fan and wasn't familiar with their music until this album. I have listened to it several times and I like the album. Thanks Tim and Apple.

You are comparing someone breaking into your house with Apple giving you a free, albeit crappy, album?

Its like Apple flew an F16 over my house and inserted a 2000 lb bomb in my chimney. That make about as much sense.

Odds of Apple doing anything this nice again: 0:0 ...which is too bad. If they made a sampler once a year with tunes from new artists that could actually use the publicity and exposure, I'll bet a lot of people would love it.

I loved U2 right up through Achtung Baby, but they've made me cringe every time I've seen em since. These keynotes constantly referencing them and Coldplay make them seem hopelessly behind the times.

but if a customer doesn't like it and they hit random play on a device they are subjected to it. I wouldn't call wanting to delete it unintelligent nor insane.

I had an inkling this would happen. I'm not quite sure why Apple thought this would be a good idea in the first place. Had they made the album free to download, there would have been no issue. I'm happy they created the reversal tool.

My opinion has nothing to do with U2. What if this had gone over with no fuss? Where will it stop? Apple decides to market something and just drops it on everyone's devices. What if it's a tribute to George Bush speeches or the release of a Justin Bieber album? What if it's a Christmas album by gospel singers or a PSA on supporting immigration reform? It could be anything. What it is, isn't the point. It's the action that's relevant.

Offer something for free? That's great. Give people the choice to take it if they want it. That's even better. Force someone to take something they don't want and didn't ask for? That's a decision that was destined to fail. Apple is usually smarter. It surprised me they did this.

i have every device set to auto download music purchases and never got it on any device. but i can see it in the purchased section.

so i dont really see the problem.

U2 is one of the greatest rock bands of all time, and an argument could be made that they are indeed the greatest.

If you don't like U2's music, then there is something wrong with you. This is what happens when an entire generation of kids grows up on Britney spears and Justin Bieber. No wonder the millennials are the worst generation in US history.

Those who don't get why folks weren't happy having this U2 album in their icloud music library should no longer use the phrase "forced junk apps on android phones" It is the exact same thing.

That's the point.
