They're going to do whatever they can to push that inventory out. Once USB C iPhones hit the market I think it'll be game over on the older models.
If the iPhone-5x is usb-c then I will do the iPhone upgrade to dump this 14max.
That will be the last phone I do the upgrade program on.

Japan as well. prices unreal worse.
You can get iPhone 14 Pro for 149,800円 from Apple in Japan, however in Germany the same model is 1299 Euros, currently 185,220円. (Both with tax included) Your pricing is really cheap!

Especially if I buy it duty-free as a foreign tourist (makes it just 134,820円 which is just 946 Euros) and then just don't show it to German customs on the way back. 27% cheaper :)

Other companies are managing fine to release decent upgrades yearly. Apple could do that too if it was less greedy.
The problem with your logic is that those other companies don't have the consumer expectation of releasing something spectacular, nor are their products already so fast and so great that the next gen is just ho-hum. When "spectacular" doesn't happen, consumers keep what they have (which is still excellent and top-shelf). What's going to hurt Apple even more is the cheapening of their products by taking shortcuts that affect performance (ie., NAND SSD chips removed to save a few cents and dramatically decreases performance in PRO products).

based on local monies and not exchange rates for other countries' monies. The cost is unreal for japan's local buyers. we paying local monies. People say this but people that Japan like me don't use other currencies. duty-free is how non-japanese do it. See this all the time all over Tokyo buy 20 phones at a time without tax.

So you say I better start a company in Malta with low corporate tax, move my own ass to Japan and work remotely? Sounds like a plan. And, alright sorry I'll admit I didn't take into account how much people actually earn. I just watch reviews from Apple products from Seto Koji on YouTube and assume everyone can buy everything :p

That right there is the problem. It is expected that Apple will just pull some miraculous device out of a hat every September. And when they don't, financial Armageddon ensues. Maybe Apple should release a new phone when they have something to put in it other than a faster chip (it's already fast enough), or more pixels in the camera (we have enough). This annual cycle is going to catch up with Apple when it can't "innovate" fast enough.
I can see the annual because someone always has to upgrade and would like a new or less than a year old device, but the prices are definitely too high.

You are funny :) a lot of those youtube people doing it. Watch out for the warranty. Some say apple has international when you buy from Japan. BUT! be careful because apple doesn't say clearly if coverage applies when fixing in another country other than Japan. From what I read on the Japanese site warranty repair can occur when you send the iPhone etc back to japan for warrantee coverage repairs. :)

Our family has three XRs the 14 Pro is a very good upgrade. I'm glad Apple released it on their annual cycle instead of waiting just so someone with a 13 Pro would think its a better upgrade. If you upgrade your phone every year, there is no reason why you should expect mind-blowing upgrades year after year; those big changes happen less frequently and that is true for every brand. Samsung, for example, just announced their S23s and they are just interactive upgrades to the S22s; and the Z-Fold4 is just a refined version of the Z-Fold3.

At this point wait for the 15 unless you want the last lightning port iPhone as a collectors item if in fact, the 15 does get USB-C

I have a trip this summer so I will be upgrading to a 14 Pro to get a better camera than my XR instead of waiting for the debatably important benefits of USB-C.

“Apple’s official China website has not changed prices. The iPhone 14 Pro starts at 7,999 yuan and the Pro Max starts at 8,999.

Apple tightly controls the price of its products in China and very rarely lets third-party retailers offer such steep discounts. Apple previously allowed retailers to slash prices in June 2020, after China was re-opening its economy following tough lockdowns across the country to battle the initial Covid outbreak.”

It's a Chinese market specific event, and you can't even report it as "Chinese New Year"? (Sorry someone being sensitive here)

Now it’s time for people in Europe to boycott Apple to force price reductions.

Absolutely crazy pricing right now in these parts. Time for consumers to vote with their wallets. I’ve already refused to buy this years model.

Apple need to stop splitting the product lines and focus on one model.

This year should be iPhone 15 and that’s its. Comes in 5.4”-6.7” displays. Storage from 256GB - 1TB. Periscope camera everything included in it. Starting price £899

From the rumors they are providing even more granularity in the product line.

Probably not going to happen.

Please update your article.
Did Apple do discounts or is that resellers doing offers for customers?

Because that is a ver different story, if just resellers do offers.
Title of the "news" says Apple. Body of the article mentions that retailers cut the price but Apple still sells the devices at their regular price.

Nice journalism indeed.

It is still very expensive, and the iPhone 14 Pro of 7,999 yuan is most Chinese two months' salary, and two months without eating, drinking or consuming can buy a mobile phone.

依然还是很贵,7999元的iPhone 14 Pro是大多数中国人两个月的薪水,两个月不吃不喝不消费才能买一部手机。

Before you know it, Apple to limit software updates for a maximum of 2 years from launch of product. this will force users to buy a new iPhone after 2 years, eliminating old iPhones from getting new features.
