Tried doing this for AT&T. Don't think it fully worked. I check eligibility and all that and then I get to the screen where I pick the phone, color, and size, but it doesn't let me continue. There's a continue button at the top right, but it's greyed out. Anyone else experience this with the Apple Store app?

I'm not buying this phone purely out of protest at their decision to stick the base model at 16GB for a FOURTH year running. I personally would upgrade to the 64GB model regardless, but the way that NAND storage prices have plummeted over the last few years there is really no freaking excuse. This year really should have been the year. A "premium" phone should never be crippled with 16GB of storage.

Not everyone needs more than 16 GB. Some casual users like my wife don't have a lot of apps, music, etc. She doesn't take many photos or videos. No need for all that storage.

If photos and videos are a problem, it's more convenient and cost effective to use iCloud Photo Library.

Just because you don't like something is no reason to say, "No one else should buy this either."

I only get the option for att next. No 2 year contract. My contract isn't up for a couple weeks maybe that's why. The att next prices are basically full price. They better not screw me.

Same thing for me on Verizon. I'll be upgrading a dumb phone with no data plan. Interested to see if anyone can get past the picking the color and storage capacity.

My thought is that you can only set it up on the phone you're upgrading. I'm upgrading our third line, but I'm using the app on my first line. I'm going to try using this on the app through the phone I'm actually upgrading later today and will report.

Question, (probably get an answer at the apple or ATT store, but thought I would see what people thing here). I am on ATT and will give my iphone 6 to my wife and buy the 6s for myself. I should be able to simply buy a sim free phone, take my sim out of the 6 and drop that into the 6s, and then take the 5c sim from my wife's phone and drop that into my 6. Other than wiping the phones and restoring from backup, does anyone see any problem with this? Any recommendations? I will pre-order this saturday morning and am planning on the sim free option, so just checking I am messing anything up.

Thanks

Yes, that's what you do. I've done this with every generation of the iPhone with my wife and I. Just back them both up so you can restore them to the proper phone and not lose any information. Simple, you won't have any problems.

I feel like we still need more information about the Apple Upgrade Program. However, I have a strong feeling that all that information will come out Saturday morning at 12:01 PDT...

Agreed. It sounds like you are just leasing the phone and will never own it. AppleCare+ is mandatory so if you damage it more times than incidents you get, you probably have to pay out of pocket when you return the device?

You can own the device with this upgrade program after you pay it off through the 24 installments. But AppleCare+ will have ended and there are cheaper (from a monthly payment perspective) ways to own your device, like AT&T Next 24, which allows you to pay it off in 30-month installments.

iPhone is the flagship phone - $649. 16GB not enough ...

I really can't believe that there is so much wrong information about the iPhone Upgrade Plan as well as AT&T Next. I guess this is what happens when consumers get so used to being ripped off through the carrier subsidy/contract model.

It's not strictly a leasing program, you guys. Although it CAN be if that's the way you would like it to be. Think of it, as well as AT&T Next, as a 'lease to own' program. They are giving you a device that's worth $649-$949, dividing the cost up into a certain number of months with 0% interest, and you pay that every month. When you reach a certain number of payments, you can, AT YOUR OPTION, trade the device back in, which will wipe the remaining amount of the agreement, and then you start another one. So with the iPhone Upgrade Plan, the cost of the device and AppleCare+ is divided into 24 months. After 24 months of payments, you OWN the device. It is yours. You paid for it. BUT, after you've paid the 12th payment (50% of the amount), you have the OPTION of giving the device back to wipe out the rest of your payments. There is nothing unfair, or shady going on here. You're not being ripped off by doing this vs. getting a contract. On the contrary, this is more upfront, honest, and fair. This was a GOOD change that the entire industry adopted following T-Mobile.

All of that being said...I also cannot figure out a way to save my AT&T account information through the web store or the Apple Store app.

Exact same issue for me, although it does say "unavailable" as well. Any thoughts as to whether this will clear up at 12:01 am on 9/12 and we'll be able to continue once the 6S is "available," or should we be prepared to go through AT&T?

Obviously it doesn't work right now? Preorders don't start until Saturday......

The "Unavailable" obviously doesn't work, but that's not what people are saying.

This article, as well as Apple's website, is saying that you can input your carrier account details have them be SAVED, so that when pre-orders go live, you don't have to waste time inputting all of it, and can just order.

You can input your details now, and get to a certain point, but none of it is saved. And they are also saying on the Apple Store app is a checkbox saying "Remember Me" to remember your carrier info...it simply does not exist.

That is what people are saying.

I think the point is that you're supposed to be able to "Remember Me" and we can't get to that point. If anyone else has been able to do so for AT&T, please respond.

Same boat on Verizon. It gets to the model selection page which you cannot go past, and no option to Remember Me. Each time you go back to the preorder page it starts over. The only thing it remembers is your zip code and last 4.

Disappointed again. Last year I bought the 6, and it always slipped out of my hand and the battery life was only a minor bump up - although I absolutely loved the camera. So I sold the 6 and stuck with my two 5's I use. The only thing I wanted to hear was for a slightly thicker phone which would contain a bigger battery and bump it up by 30% life. I always thought the add-on batt packs make it too thick... but I'll have to look into the batt pack and see the sizing for the 6-Same and feel forced to buy the 6-Same whether I like it or not - again such limited choices to stick with Apple.

I currently have the upgrade option of paying 250 and giving AT&T my phone. Is it possible to do that and then move to the apple 12 month program. Have not been able to decider that. Also if I decide to stay with AT&T next can I preorder on Apple.com and mail in my phone

Same here. It will only let you verify your account info. You won't be able to click on the new phone until 12:01am.

For those of you wondering why you can't save your phone configuration choice it's because it only saves your carrier account info. The remember me check box is on that page thus it only saves that info. It will then let you continue to the next page to see the different configurations but that is not what is meant to be saved. The page states that it will save your wireless account details not your phone configuration choice.
