I'm not buying this phone purely out of protest at their decision to stick the base model at 16GB for a FOURTH year running. I personally would upgrade to the 64GB model regardless, but the way that NAND storage prices have plummeted over the last few years there is really no freaking excuse. This year really should have been the year. A "premium" phone should never be crippled with 16GB of storage.

The 16GB isn't a "premium" anything. PS, everyone has a damn iPhone so it's not special at all.

The new Galaxy S6 comes with a 32GB base model.

The LG G4 comes with a 32GB base model.

The HTC One M9 comes with a 32GB base model.

Notice a trend?

Meanwhile, the new iPhone 6S sports a wimpy 16GB base model for a fourth year running.

I'm done posting about this, but apple should know they're gonna lost a lot of customers about this. The sheeple will continue to obey their corporate overlords and will buy whatever phone that got announced regardless, but I'm sick of it.

With the AT&T Next plan and Apple Upgrade Plan (no 2yr contract at Apple Store - someone posted), am I really paying a "subsidized" cost of the phone twice? In the past, I would pay an up front fee of lets say, $299, for a new iPhone, then continue with my 2yr contract with AT&T. I am also on the grandfathered Unlimited Data Plan. I am confused...if I go with Next or Apple Upgrade plan, am I paying twice the subsidized amount?

"Sheeple?" What do you call those of us that never purchase the base model?

I don't see the "remember me" selection at all.

Same here. Unless I'm just blind and missing it, it's nowhere on the Apple Store website or the Apple Store app on my iPad. I've clicked through everything I could click through.

You're not ignorant, at least. But Apple should hold itself to a higher standard. The time has come, the technology is good to go. It really was time for Apple to get with the times. But yet again, they greatly disappoint. Millions of people are going to be VERRRRY angry when they buy a phone and fill it up in the very first week. People can forgive companies for doing a lot of bad things, but conning people is not one of them.

Apple should not be selling a base model of their flagship phone that can only be used by little old grannies and non-techies who don't take very many photos or download many apps. The base model flagship phone should be usable by everyone. There is basically no point of having a 4K camera with such a measly amount of storage.

Pretty much. With Next and a "Share" plan you get $25/month knocked off your bill for bringing your own device -- which the Next plan is basically. With a subsidized contract Share plan, you don't get that $25/month discount. So over two years that's $600 extra -- which is practically the cost of a phone.

You have to crunch some numbers and compare your unlimited plan with a plan covering the amount of data you are using each month. Just be sure to account for the $25/month discount.

They should understand what they are purchasing. At the end the of the day, they can only be angry at themselves for not fully understanding the product that they bought.

I am happy that the mid level comes with 64GB. It doubles the storage that my wife and I have in our 32GB 5s'.

I think it's sad that you blame people for getting ripped off by Apple because they may not understand what capacity they need. They shouldn't HAVE to worry about getting ripped off.

That's because you don't realize how incredibly cheap NAND storage has become over the last few years. That's the reason nearly EVERY other manufacturer, like Samsung, HTC, LG, etc. etc. etc. have already moved their base model flagship phones to 32GB.

But Apple will rip you off because they can't think up a better way to get you to upgrade than to force you to spend $100 extra for LESS than $2 more NAND storage. Seriously, they could have made the high and mid-range modes have a better camera, or a better display, or any number of other things.

But they didn't, because they've really lost imagination in my opinion. Nowadays they're really just following the herd....except they're 2 years behind everyone else.

I did, several times. And here's how it looks for me:

You click the Get Ready link at the top. Then the 'Get Ready now' link in that pop up. Brings you to 'Select your wireless account'. I choose AT&T, because that's what I have. That brings me to the first screenshot to enter my account information. I do, and then hit Continue. It then asks for my 4-digit Passcode for my AT&T account. I put that in. It brings me to the second screenshot to choose my device and Next agreement. Hit Continue. It brings me to the color and size selection screen. Can't continue from there.

At no point in the process is a "Remember Me" button ever available.

I understand how cheap storage is.

Yes, I blame the people that purchase phones with nominal storage and realize that it is not enough after a week. Everyone has choices. They can certainly purchase an Android phone with 32GB in the base model. Additionally, they can purchase the mid level model if they have the monetary means.

You can't continue because the phone is not available until 12:01am PST on the 12th. The "remember me" only allows the app to remember your phone carrier information so you don't have to re-enter it. It really only saves a couple of seconds!

I understand that completely.

But what I'm saying is, there is no "Remember Me" to speak of. I cannot save my phone carrier information. I cannot save it because there is no "Remember Me" option anywhere.

There is not a remember me option. It automatically saved the carrier info. When I returned to the "preorder the 6s" link, my carrier information was already there, albeit hidden. I clicked continue again and it took me directly to the phone selection page without providing my account log in again.

If yours does not save your info, then I am at a loss. Good luck!

Thanks Weave. My 2yr contract expires on the 20th. I wonder if I'll see a drop in my bills? I'll have to call AT&T.

I believe you have to do it on an iPhone only. The app for the iPad will not give you that option.

Any word on Verizon business customers?
I hate this part of being a verizon business account holder.....

I'm trying to figure out if I just pay full price through Apple and select VZW as my carrier if I can cancel the line after I receive the phone. I hate VZW's stupid portal. I can never figure out how that thing works

I'm in the same boat. I enter the info and get to the last page where I can select the model and the "continue" is grayed out. However, I did what this poster mentioned and it had my Vz info already in place. I'm using my Apple Store app and leaving the last page open so I can just go there when the time comes. Don't know if that will work. My many experiences with the midnight frenzy is that nothing goes smoothly.

BTW - On Wednesday I ordered a rose gold iWatch and got it today!! That blew me away!

Congrats! I absolutely love rose gold. I may get the iPhone in that color...once I determine which phone to order. Good luck tonight!
