I am come to belive that Mr. Tim have to compensate for having to pay Trump to be on his team. Looking at the new European prices for the iPad and iPad Mini makes one hope that Apple will go bankrupt over night....

UK price includes 20% vat - Approx £57, US price doesn't include sales tax.

I was speaking more about the upward trajectory of the price as a whole not being good. They started out slightly less than the dollar figure, even including VAT. Then they were the same as the dollar figure, now they are more than the dollar figure.

Anyone notice this is thicker and heavier than the iPad Air 2?

Air 2: .24" .98 lbs (wifi + cell)
New iPad: .29" 1.05 lbs (wifi + cell)

Right now iPad Air 2 can be found in the refurbished section $489 64GB wifi + cell

Late 2015.. and those aren't 2017 Apple prices. It's cheap as chips!

It isn't really that cheap... it's just below what Apple used to price flagship iPads as before they decided that the margins weren't enough and that they'd stop putting flagship tech into the normal model and charge extra for the pro.

It isn't even Late 2015 iPad technology its a normal A9, not the A9X.

Way too much fragmentation.

I have a feeling that Steve is very disappointed.

Yeah it looks like they've gone back to the thickness and weight of the original iPad Air. I wonder if that means the screen also isn't laminated and lacks the anti reflective coating. If so, that would represent a huge downgrade from the Air 2. The performance gains from A8X to A9 aren't nearly enough to make a downgraded screen worth it, even at a cheaper price.

I'm going to guess its thicker because the Air 2 had the whole case vibrate when the volume is high. It was simply too thin to contain the sound.

Signs of cost cutting the tech specs make no mention of "Fully laminated display" or "Antireflective coating"

Hence, the cut the cost. I.e. It's cheaper.

7.5 mm, thicker and heavier than iPad Air 2 (6,1 mm) and no laminated display, no Antireflective coating!!

A full 32g heavier. For comparison, a pocket full of change/coins weighs as much. Also, lower price point.

The drama here is funny, but not unsurprising.

So since they increased the price initially then they are closer to 2014 prices, not 2017 - which is a good thing.

A9 debuted late 2015, so this is late 2015 tech - which might I add is still extremely good going into 2017.
