I got these in the gloss black recently and all I can say generally is wow.

The battery life is just amazing. I charged them to 100% (though they dropped to 99 when I unplugged them) and since then:
  • I have talked on the phone for maybe 5 hours
  • Listened to ~10 or so hours of music
  • Kept them on without anything playing on my ears in the plane (to cancel background noise, which they do to a great degree for non noise cancelling headphones)

and as of now I have 77% battery left.

There are few things that tick me off. Such as:
  • Lack of lightning port, but I have a limefuel which I carry and that too uses the micro-usb so not all that bad
  • 3.5mm jack... I don't have an iPhone 7, but I will have a future iPhone and I know  won't introduce the 3.5 again. Oh well
  • On-ear. They are too tight. I've heard many reviews about this and am just waiting for them to loosen up. We'll see. It's not too bad, but after 30 minutes they hurt a little, but a quick readjustment fixes
I bought mine new for $230 and I think that's a good price for a new technology (W1) headphone that can provide 40 hours of battery life on a class 1 bluetooth. All reviews leave this out, but that's the kicker. I get over 100 feet range on these and since I work from home, I no longer need to keep me phone on my regardless of where I am in the house. Just marvelous.

I know right! It's almost like Apple should hire people to work on other things at the same time....oh wait

Indeed, hopefully someone will answer Apples job vacancy for someone to design a new Mac Pro and a Desktop machine with a decent graphics card.

Adverts must have been around for years now, yet no takers.
Hopefully someone will be keen to take up the job so they can start on these two issues that Apple can't do anything about yet.

I agree I got a pair of the glossy black Solo 3's about 3 or 4 weeks ago. The bluetooth range and battery life is absolutely amazing. (These are great for long plane or car rides :D) For me, that alone was worth it. The sound is actually very good in my opinion, not too much over the top bass as many have said. Do I think they should be $300? No but it didn't determine if I'd buy them or not. People will have to figure out if it's worth it for them.

I recently compared the outgoing Beats model, the B&W P7, the Bose QC35, and Sony MDR-1000X. Unfortunately for me, I have big floppy donkey ears and comfort has to be high on the list of features. I know all about the class 1 BT and long battery life, but for me these features are much less important than comfort.

Let us know if these Beats loosen up over time. I bought the Sony's, and while not as comfortable as the Bose, they are much, much more comfortable than the Beats or B&W.

230 would be a great price. I assume that's employee or friends of employee pricing?
