But majority of the population calls the smartphones iPhone and tablets iPad and MP3 players iPods. This what makes Apple devices so popular because of how people calls them even educated people and media and celebrities. That's how Xerox, Coke, Kodak and more and Apple wants to get away from this? SMH!

Damn, they got the Samsung narrator to do it!
Are you kidding me? This sounds just like the guy they used for about 90% of their iPhone commercials from 2007 to at least 2010, if not later sporadically. A simple search on YouTube will confirm my statement.

I like that they're going back to their roots. The first ad was kinda meh. Didn't they used to have a tag line similar to this? The second video was spot-on and great. Apple needs to push their strengths and this is a big one. That being said, the video crashed my iPhone 6 Plus when I rotated it to landscape to watch the video. Why does it still crash so much? The Plus is such a lemon, lol. My least favorite iPhone out of all of them. Can't wait to go back down to the 4.7" size in the 6S.

Well it was meant to be more of a joke rather than taken literally...

This doesn't seem like problem they need to solve. I don't see people calling their cheap phones an "iPhone". It's not like how "Kleenex" became synonymous with "tissue" or how "Xerox" is used to say "photocopy". People call their smartphones a "phone" these days. "iPad" on the other hand has become synonymous with "tablet computer" but "iPhone" hasn't taken on that kind of role.

The software + hardware message is one worth repeating but the slogan doesn't address that.
Please read between the lines. You're way off.

haha, I completely agree. That slogan is tacky. It's like the advertising folks couldn't come up with the punch line.. and settled for something bland, safe, and generic.

It's so generic, it's generic! If you don't agree, don't agree!
Some of you guys need to lighten up a bit. I think the slogan is cool. You guys always expect Apple to be so prim and perfect. Sometimes a quirky one-liner is brilliant. Especially when Samsung ads are so aggressive and bad.

It was subtle hard nudge at the obvious relentless Iphone copycat and how they fail at copying because they're not producing the 99% satisfaction Iphone experience... Cause hey, there is only one ring.... Hmmm... Iphone... to rule all :)... And Apple's got it ... I can just hear Tim Cook saying "My precious" holding an Iphone in his hand.

How did you manage to type iPhone three times with an uppercase "I"? I'm genuinely curious? Does your device not auto-correct that for you?

Spot the easter egg?

99 iPhones facing the viewer. 1 iPhone faces away.

That is actually genius. :)

wait. maybe this means his device does not have auto correct? Poor guy must be stuck running some kind of archaic system from the past. Thats all I'll say in risk of crashing his computer.

Finally! I can't say I recall them ever messaging the power of the "walled garden" so bluntly. About time. For me, this has long been THE differentiator between Apple and their competition. While polarizing (for understandable reasons), I personally prefer the performance consistency that comes with the walled garden approach. ****. Just. Works. I'd much rather spend my time actually using my tools than ensuring my tools are ready to be used. But some people enjoy the constant tinkering required of many non-Apple devices. I get it. There's a reason most corporate IT departments maintain a healthy Windows user base. Wink wink.

That said, I find the tagline a tad desperate. Unnecessarily so. Feels like a page out of Samsung's marketing strategy deck. Which is very unApple. But the overall message is pretty great. And pretty different for Apple. Nice work.

Agreed. That's what he gets for buying a Chromebook. ;)
