Is there even an optical drive anywhere in any Apple Store capable of playing this?!

As many have already stated, selling CDs in a Apple store in 2015 is a non-starter. An Apple Music exclusive with some nice album-art to showcase it in stores might be a more viable option.

That's one of the few things Apple can hold over competitors like Spotify, Apple can afford to buy these exclusives.

They still sell the MacBook Pro and the USB SuperDrive.

Alright! That's interesting to know. I don't follow Mac very closely so I assumed the optical drive had already gone the way of the floppy disk drives.

I believe the news should be about her losing like 200 lbs. On top of the Photoshop work, I mean in that picture... I do her and I am not lesbian.

Yes, Adele. That's what Apple should do. Stock your CD in their stores when they're trying to push a brand new streaming music service while also in the middle of pushing everything up into iCloud.

I don't even remember the last time I bought a CD much less saw anyone else using one. It's 2015.

And CD is still the cheapest and best quality source for music out there. You also have a physical backup, and you can also sell it on after you've finished with it.

Don't get me wrong, I can see the appeal of streaming, but CD isn't dead by a long shot. I should know, I work for a company that sells over 10,000 CD's 2nd hand daily and the market for used CD sales is actually on the increase.

This is just really dumb and, echoing everyone else, it would seem incredibly out of place to have a single artist's physical CD among all of the other accessories and in a store that is pushing digital music. Side note, I don't like Adele and don't get why her album is called "25" when she's 27...

I think this is disgraceful by Apple. I've personally encountered a similar issue with them not supporting people in situations like this. As a struggling games developer who managed to compress my game down to 50 floppy disks, they laughed me right out of the office.

I think if I put it onto magnetic tape, I might have a shot ...

People need to get real about this "Vinyl resurgence". Here's a graph that should help:

LPvinylsales1973-2014.jpg

Vinyl is not making a coming back. There is only a small crowd who will purchase vinyl and vinyl associated products. Companies who are making these will eventually stop because profit will not be enough. They are throwing money at something dead.

The future is digital and eventually we will be able to stream lossless in our homes. Maybe via our Apple TV who knows. We already consume high bandwidth movies and tv shows so why not add lossless music via Apple Music and Apple TV.

Stocking her CD would make no sense at all. Now if they were to allow iTunes cards with her photo on the front and that unlocked the new album when you put the code in.. well hey that's how the future of music is going then I understand it. Because she could be embracing the fact that the CD medium is going by the way side.

Selling a CD at the Apple Store is really thinking out of the box. I mean it would be so unexpected, so WTF! It would be the only CD for sale in the entire store. Plus if Apple Stores started selling a few CDs then we know the next logical step would be to fire all the Geniuses and poach all the baristas from Starbucks. Apple Cafe is now open for business. Free WiFi and computer usage too! /sarc

Oh, and for all you Angela Ahrendts haters, at least give her credit for knowing this would be an odd fit.

I do agree here--if you pick an album you listen to regularly as an MP3 and play it on CD on a nice stereo, it's pretty amazing how much better it sounds. However, most people (me included) aren't audiophile enough where they're willing to go back to a big giant folio of CDs that they have to lug around everywhere when you can now have your entire library on your phone or in the cloud.

It's just convenience over sound quality. Standalone cameras still take better pictures than cell phones, but most people just use their cell phones. Same deal.

People still buy CD's? If you do, I think it's time to move on.

Why is it a problem for you what other people do?

I still buy them a lot because they are often cheaper than iTunes and it only takes a minute to rip them to your library. CDs also have better audio quality and you can appreciate the cover artwork and inserts.

I don't mind if you restrict yourself to downloading though. :p

Not to be picky, but CD are not what an audiophile would consider good media!

I googled it and I hate myself so much for actually reading this that I'll share it

"Adele, 27, could not be more excited about finally releasing some new music for her fans, which is probably why she couldn’t wait to share the cover for her new album. Just wait until you see how fantastic she looks on the face of 25!
How exciting! Adele chose a close up of herself for the 25 album cover, showing off her perfectly arched eyebrows, pouty lips, and flawless cat-eye makeup. It’s beautiful!

The cover is also notably different than her first two, which were for 19 and 21. While the cover for her album 19 showed Adele on a bit of an angle with her bangs reflecting in the light, 21 showed her resting her head in the palm of her hand. She’s also looking away, which is what makes 25 so drastically different.

As you can see in the photo above, Adele is looking boldly into camera with wide eyes. There is no shying away or hiding her face, it’s just a full frame shot that puts her entirely on display. Symbolic, much?"

I don't see a problem. Apple could have bundled her CD with an external CD drive with a lightning connector.

We don't download, we Apple Music.
