Digital overtook CD sales this year, but that doesn't count for the 2nd hand CD market - which is absolutely huge, by the way, so CD sales are still ahead.

Can't believe that many people still buy cd's. I feel like the benefits of digital far outweighs the positive things about physical media.

This is merely a PR exercise by adele's management to promote her new album... No such thing as bad PR and all that.

Mention Apple in your PR gambit and it is likely to garner manufactured headlines.

Yes, Adele. That's what Apple should do. Stock your CD in their stores when they're trying to push a brand new streaming music service while also in the middle of pushing everything up into iCloud.

I don't even remember the last time I bought a CD much less saw anyone else using one. It's 2015.

Well, to be fair, it is very likely the music label that was pushing this, not Adele directly.

Sure, sure, makes so much sense for Apple to sell CDs on their stores when there is absolutely no way to use it with its products.

Except, of course, this one:

So yeah, I'm sure Apple's board is still laughing.

Hard to believe people won't give physical media up.

I gave physical media up when my dvd then blu-ray collection filled up the 360 degree swivel stand it was on. That and digital movie quality was on the rise to the point where it was indistinguishable visually. And by that I mean you could only tell minute differences in quality when you froze a frame. Sound however is still better on blu-ray and it supports more formats. But this is a different topic for different forum.

However where the hell people fit all this physical media??? I was running out of space so I had to go iTunes Store digital since the befits outweighed the negatives in my case.

Maybe Adele is dropping a hint in relation to Apple Music :) streaming is not always better.

On a serious note, I prefer to own my music and store it locally. No streaming service has worked for me, I'd be in the demographic that the would but a CD in an Apple Store

They didn't expect Apple to agree.

They were just looking for the associated publicity.

I didn't know Adele had a new Album, or that it was releasing in November, but I do now. So does every other Mac user.

Well done PR guys, well done.

Most of Apple's devices don't even have disc drives to play CD's in anymore. Why would Apple sell a product that their users can't use in their latest devices?

After what she did to Phil Collins i really hope she does not sell much! (I know it will ... but just dreaming).

Very unprofessional person, and disrespectful of a musical genius!

Phil has done some good songs in the past but he has done a lot of absolute dross.
You can't expect Adele to use a song just because it was written by him. She's not going to sing and release a song that she thinks is ****.

The songs she scrapped were going to create an album about motherhood. C'mon, who the hell wants to hear that. It's bad enough when women get pregnant and post about every little thing about the pregnancy on FaceBook and then post thousands of photos and updates about their ugly, ******, noise making meat-bag, like we give a toss.

Why is everyone assuming they offered to sell the album on CD? No-where in the article does it mention CDs. They could just as easily sell an iTunes gift card specifically for that album.

My car just has a CD player and don't want to use a FM transmitter or buy a new head unit that supports USB or Bluetooth. Next car I buy will have such phone connection tech though. So I still buy CD's occasionally if I like the entire album(rare). Usually just pre-order them from Amazon or pick it up at Best Buy. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go to an Apple store though.

I wouldn't usually recommend clicking a Daily Mail link but if you follow the source of the MacRumors article the headline is...
Technology giant Apple 'decline' Adele's appeal for CD version of her new album 25 to be sold in its stores

Eh adele, lol just lol. Also i still byy cds these days. If only apple would do high quality audio in their stores. That being said i still download a lot of itunes stuff

Thank you. Will definitely be picking up her target deluxe edition. I wonder if people realize that the first week CDs come out they're usually cheaper than they ever are on iTunes and you also get it in lossless from a CD.

So has Adele. And so has just about every single artist, songwriter, and composer in the history of the world. Even The Beatles write some dreadful songs...Octopus's Garden anyone?!
