Facebook and other advertisers expect that customers will not want to share their IDFA's for ad targeting purposes and will therefore decline consent for the ad blocking popups that Apple has implemented in iOS 14.
I may switch to another phone if they do this. I don't see any reason why they would do this other than influence from Facebook

You might be perfectly comfortable letting strangers into your house to go through your cabinets, listen to your conversations, and parse your browser history to see what things you like to keep around.If I'm going to see advertisements, why not have them be targeted towards my interests?
I hope this feature remains until the GM so then we can stay on it for the foreseeable future.

Never forget that Apple’s priority is making money. If implementing this feature impacts their bottom line to a degree where the costs (lost income from their App Store) are greater than what they gain (more people buying iOS devices), they are not going to implement it.This is the situation where Apple caves?
