Apple Delays Apple Intelligence Siri Features

These sounds like nightmare additions!!!!

In the future you wont have to use the excuse, "I was drunk texting".

You can just blame it on Siri, AI, and deep contextual integration. 😲

And the lovely dialog asking if it's ok to go to Chat GPT, essentially admitting that Siri don't yet got da goods.
For Crying out loud Tim you run a 3.54 Trillion Dollar Company! Hire some bloody LLM Coders!!

Also instead of "Amazing Things in The Pipeline." How about Amazing Things Now that Just Work!

If this was going to be executed like anything Apple Intelligence so far, I’m glad they pushed it out to iOS 19.

Seems like Contextual Siri is going to rely a lot on developer participation to be successful so I’m okay with waiting for better support amongst the developer community

Maybe they don't have anything figured out yet. They are probably looking at how others do AI (Google Gemini?) and trying to add new "features" to that which take away things. I tried asking Siri many times from far away, and most of the time is "look it up when you unlock the phone, or send the info to your phone". That's why I asked far away, so as not to touch the phone. Ridiculous.

Apple should have learned from AirPower by not showing something until it is ready to be released. I wonder what this means for iOS 19.
io 19 is now going to be about cleaning up the house and getting ready for AI / Personal Context in iOS 20.

We wanted to celebrate 20 years of iOS with something special, so we brought Personal Context for the first time on any mobile, and only to iOS devices.

At least AirPower ended up as vaporware.

Whereas this project is never going to be canned, as they’ve no choice now except to pursue to save corporate face and squeeze out some gimped version of AI Siri to force feed the masses. May as well rebrand it to FOMO at this point.

Pathetic. Under Tim's rule, they keep missing deadlines. Jobs wouldn't have it.
Push notifications were delayed in entire year under Jobs.
Announced in June 2008 for a September 2008 release, never released, never mentioned, no delay announced…
We’re brought back up in June 2009 as a new feature of 3.0, despite already being announced a year ago and deadline completely missed with no comment.
Evidence:

Or, how about this, does anyone remember the white iPhone 4?
Announced in June 2010, didn’t ship until… April 2011.

Obviously this was going to happen. We have known for years Siri’s architecture is crap. Building go so much new stuff on the ancient limited buggy foundations of 2011 is a very bad idea.
That’s what I’ve thought for months. Siri is working the way Siri was designed to, ten years ago. If they want to make an AI personal digital assistant, they need to start over with a clean sheet of paper. Trying to scab it onto Siri is just never going to work well.

So Gurman was right about it being delayed, but he obviously didn't know the full story. If 18.4 is due for general release is April, then whatever 18.5 was planning would be lucky to get GR before WWDC, so they just push it down the road for iOS 19. Probably nothing in the 19.0 beta either. Bet it is post-fall before we see any sign of these features.
