Apple would be better off finding their most popular podcasts, giving them premium recording equipment or giving them access to recording studios, recording podcasts in 4K, then paying for professional video editors to edit video and then paying everyone tens of thousands of dollars.

They'd be beloved by many, could probably steal a bunch of you tubers if they wanted and they'd have at least entertaining content.

But no, they insist on this crap. They have contact info for cooking, sports and entertainment podcasts with a built on audience but they'd rather pay for celebrities to sing karaoke.
This is actually a fantastic idea, I got back into Podcasts lately and hit them hard. They're amazing. Something for everyone.

This may actually be a good thing. It may mean that Apple is focusing on other projects that...you know...matter.

You do realize these segments are already wildly popular right? With hundreds of millions of views?

T. Cook and Co. have some serious credibility issues. I'm still wondering why the stock has been punished yet. Maybe it'll happen all at once.

It was so quiet on this Carpool Karaoke stuff, that I was just hoping Apple forgot about it. The idea sucks so much that I can't believe Apple was even considering it, let alone producing it.
And I don't know, maybe I'm out of date, since I always thought that watching semi-famous people dance or skate was stupid. And Carpool Karaoke is just barely better. It's all right as a cutaway in a late night show. But it's not House of Cards - it won't make people pay the Apple Music fees. It's like Dirty Jobs - a nice show and a time filler. But I don't pay for cable just to watch Dirty Jobs. I pay to watch sports, good films and TV shows on Canal+.

Precisely coordinated launches ???

If they launch this like all their other recent products, 100 people will be able to watch it on launch day, and the rest will get it 3 months later.

Expect an updated format in 2-3 years time....

When you submit your resume for Eddie Cue's job, I'd be happy to act as a reference.

Eddies job is not based on skill or performance.......we all have that "guy" in the company that we wonder how they got that position...combination of kissing major ass, and being mates with the right people. You know one for sure ..... and very very hard to replace... :p

I like the segment on Cordon's late night show. I'll watch it. Not sure why all the hate; if you don't want to watch it then... don't. It's not going to be required or anything.

Exactly.

I don't own an iPad, and the releasing of new iPads takes more resources away from Mac and iPhone than this series, but it doesn't make any sense for me to complain about it.

But then I realised long ago that people don't just leave Apple alone if they're not interested - they insist on complaining.

Ha, yeah - I had one of those where I used to work. He was an embarrassment. But why do people think this is the case without Cue? Tim Cook didn't mind firing Scott Forstall because he upset Jony Ive.

If the entire executive team were complaining about Cue, and there are people to replace him (each SVP doesn't work solo) why wouldn't Tim do that?

Personally, I think Apple's vision for TV is so difficult to work out at this stage. I mean - they launched Apple Music to compete with Spotify, but seem to encourage Netflix as a competitor.

As most things with the entertainment industry, you've got a few executives who think this is a great idea and also owe some favours to some studio execs probably at CBS...and then everyone else goes along with the idea, and don't dare say its a bad idea because they value their jobs and positions they've gotten themselves into in the industry.

Apple's trying too hard in this field and coming off as awkward. With them leading the PC charge (not talking Mac's here), anything they produce in TV is about as vanilla as it can get and even the massive marketing machine and resources Apple has to try and convince people its funny and "cool" can't make a pig look any prettier than it really is. People likely to lose interest after 3 or 4 shows and that would be a huge failure.

Delayed likely as:
1)Someone complained that there's not a wide enough cultural spectrum of guests or people they are surprising, so back to the streets to make sure they have enough of every race color and creed so as not to offend anyone.
2)Someone was using non biodegradable drink cups, or a car was using too much gas in the taping of the show
3) Eddy Cue and Co. don't have the rights to some of the songs sung.
4) The songs are far too mainstream for Apple, where a lot of their target audience equates that the more obscure the musical act or song, the "better" it is.
5)The show was meant to feature the Ipad Pro 2.

I still don't get what they have to gain by this? A small amount of brand recognition from people that'll like this show? Everybody already knows Apple!

I don't see how this helps them build an ecosystem, secure TV deals, sell devices etc. At least Apple Music increases the value of the iPhone, if only by a little.
