Exactly.

I don't own an iPad, and the releasing of new iPads takes more resources away from Mac and iPhone than this series, but it doesn't make any sense for me to complain about it.

But then I realised long ago that people don't just leave Apple alone if they're not interested - they insist on complaining.

Ha, yeah - I had one of those where I used to work. He was an embarrassment. But why do people think this is the case without Cue? Tim Cook didn't mind firing Scott Forstall because he upset Jony Ive.

If the entire executive team were complaining about Cue, and there are people to replace him (each SVP doesn't work solo) why wouldn't Tim do that?

Personally, I think Apple's vision for TV is so difficult to work out at this stage. I mean - they launched Apple Music to compete with Spotify, but seem to encourage Netflix as a competitor.

Scott got fired cause he actually had a vision and pushed for it . Sadly in his arrogance he lacked tac. In an organisation to innovate and thrive you need these people, it's why Jobs liked him. Cook got rid of Scott cause he wanted and stable and happy exec team. Cue is the master here, manages to be liked by all the key people , while others wonder how the heck he has that position. Excellent at office politics. Though so was Ives as getting rid of Forstall. Had Forstall stayed and Ives gone , apple would be in a better place . Ives without jobs is very limited in my opinion ..... golden boy is not so golden, Cook made a huge mistake . Apple needed someone in the exec team to push them and stir the pot. Right now they are so damn complacent ....people are still questioning if they still can innovate. New MacBook shows what a one trick pony Ives is....thinner thinner thinner ....people are not amazed anymore by this...

I still don't get what they have to gain by this? A small amount of brand recognition from people that'll like this show? Everybody already knows Apple!

I don't see how this helps them build an ecosystem, secure TV deals, sell devices etc. At least Apple Music increases the value of the iPhone, if only by a little.

In my opinion , this is a result of the Beats deal. Apple already got them huge exposure and a global station, it's turned into a huge makerting machine for Beats boys and thier associates, amazing global reach. These same associates have friends who are now milking apple for TV shows etc.

Apple gets benefts here..... but mainly they are a cash cow with a huge purse to fund this .

Frankly apple has no clear vision, too much money and dabbling. Doing a Sony at the moment ..... which lead to sonys strength , its electronics going backwards as they chased music etc etc....

"Carpool Karaoke: The Series," its first original television series

Errrrrmmm

Never get the idea of buying existing content to be cool?
if they (Apple) would have come up with that as an original idea, okay – but just "wanna play with the cool ones…" …??

Survey time. What would you like to see Apple release in 2017?
(a) Carpool Karaoke, a zany music show
(b) A MacPro like they promised
( c) Anything else, just not Carpool Karaoke
When did Apple Promise a Mac Pro in 2017?

What was his vision? I must have missed it.

Apple would be better off finding their most popular podcasts, giving them premium recording equipment or giving them access to recording studios, recording podcasts in 4K, then paying for professional video editors to edit video and then paying everyone tens of thousands of dollars.

They'd be beloved by many, could probably steal a bunch of you tubers if they wanted and they'd have at least entertaining content.

But no, they insist on this crap. They have contact info for cooking, sports and entertainment podcasts with a built on audience but they'd rather pay for celebrities to sing karaoke.
Yeah but then they'd be providing a livable income to many average Joes. Wouldn't you rather they give all that money to a few millionaires for 15 minutes of their time, so that they in turn can purchase over-priced luxuries or invest it to bolster their individual wealth?

Lol. What's Cooks? Am I missing something?

Since Scott and jobs went, what have the current clowns done ? still milking the same products...... can't even update a Mac Pro since 2013...... pathetic to be honest.... sure you want to discuss vision ? Cause if you do .... you first.... after which I'm happy to demonstrate what Scott actually contributed to apples vrs some of the current dead wood like Cue.... this will be fun...

Do us all a favor and delay it forever. Go back to making computers (or figuring how to build the fingerprint sensor into the iPhone screen). Quit dicking around with this nonsense.
Sorry to blow your mind, but Apple can indeed multitask on multiple big projects, seeing as they're a large company.

Precisely coordinated launches ???

If they launch this like all their other recent products, 100 people will be able to watch it on launch day, and the rest will get it 3 months later.

Expect an updated format in 2-3 years time....

Eddies job is not based on skill or performance.......we all have that "guy" in the company that we wonder how they got that position...combination of kissing major ass, and being mates with the right people. You know one for sure ..... and very very hard to replace... :p

Yeah, seems like Macrumors is taking a little dig there...

On the face of it you should be completely accurate on this. But this is one of the many attributes lacking in Apple's repertoire. The Mac Pro fiasco for instance or the FCPX muck up for another, or the MIni or the etc etc etc.........
Apple flounders with no real vision of what they are supposed to be doing. The phone gives them lee room but not for ever and then the laughing has to stop. If iPhone 8 goes even slightly bad the stock will plummet and the real face of Apple will be exposed and it won t be pretty.

It's ALL your opinion. Rhyming off words like you sit in the exec office at Apple and witnessed the rise of Eddie Cue. Go lick your Scott F fridge magnet or wrap up in your Scott F beach towel...as you seem to miss him so so much. Assumption assumption assumption dressed as fact.

What a terrible shame!!

They may have been allocating more resources to that new and challenging project... I think it will be called "Mac Pro".

Right.... cause everything you say is fact . 99.9% here is opinions , grow up. The fact is Scott had a major contribution to Apple.... hello iPod, Hello iOS.... heard of those ? And I'm not a fan of Scott. Do some research mate.

Look . You cannot accuse Scott of not having a vision .... the bloke got some major runs on the board with iPod and iOS . It's his personality that was a let down, did not play nice with others and needed jobs to control him, though jobs created the environment...... Cook is all let's abe nice to each other to .... sometimes you need conflict and friction to get better results, complacency is a killer ...

They're still able to focus on more than one thing, despite whether or not some of the things they work on being questionable (like this karaoke thing)

And it's not like Apple has never partnered with celebrities in their previous music ventures, like the U2 iPod Classic.

Or Garageband lessons, although we don't hear much about those any more. Apple loses interest in stuff very quickly.

They sure as heck aren't showing it; the buyers guide here showed that.

Sure wish Apple would quit pulling a Sony and start to focus on their original products, computers, before they gradually start to fade their focus on them and even slowing down the updates on computers even more!

Can't decide what bothers me more, the fact that Apple would invest into this sort of dumbed-down, low quality content, or the degree to which we're being incessantly bombarded with its promotion by Apple and news outlets.

If Apple wanted to get into the content business, why not follow Netflix's lead in paying for top quality content that rivals premium series from the likes of HBO? But no, instead of a House of Cards or Stranger Things, Apple gives us a celebrity reality show.

You didn't answer my question. What was Scott's vision? I seem to remember iOS 6 getting lukewarm reviews (The Verge ran a piece called It's Always 73 and Sunny in Cupertino). If he had some grand vision for the future of computing or the future of Apple I never heard it. If you know what it was do share.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cue was behind this. Everything he touches is a mess.

It's a bit like "the Midas touch", except everything he touches turns to crap. Cue is the oddball Apple executive who demonstrates a crass obsession with monetizing everything without first considering the benefit to the end user.
