I would pay for an audio book subscription - not sure if Id pay for podcasts.
audible has done that for at least a decade.

Wow. Yeah no. Podcast support on Apple apps has been broken for a decade. The podcast experience was better on my OG Shuffle 15 years ago. The native app has never worked right. As for "they don't rush in with half baked products and services," uh.. yeah. Ping was a rushed half baked service. Airpods Max, that don't even support Apple's own lossless audio spec, is a rushed half baked product. The butterfly keyboard was a rushed half baked product. This is why I love Apple. They don’t rush in with half baked products and services. They take their time, get it right, and then delight consumers with the final product.
I've been listening to podcasts for 16 years, and I can assure you providers with content worth monetizing have never had a problem doing so even without big daddy Apple taking their cut *ahem* I mean giving them a hand.Exactly how is allowing content providers to monetize their work a scam?
Yabutapple. It is only awesome if apple does it, come on, you don't know this about apple yet?audible has done that for at least a decade.

Adjusting? 🤣Announced it and adjusting to some of the feedback. Not sure why anyone would cry about this. "Here's a thing you didn't have before. You'll still not have it until next month but you've lived this long without it, so you should be fine."
don’t forget AirPods Max, HomePod...Is this sarcasm? Never releasing half baked products? What about AM, Maps, iCloud, MobileMe, Ping, AM Connect, iBooks Author, the TV app, the Remote app, Apple Watch Series 0, the iPod Nano without buttons, Siri, …
And it’s not like long standing titles like iWorks are at the forefront of innovation either.
Yep, like Raspberry Pi Foundation/Trading. They wait until the product is ready before announcing it.In my opinion, they shouldn't announce new features until they are ready to go live.
Exactly - I’m hoping Spotify does audiobooks so I’ve been waiting. Not sure I’d pay to hear a podcast though.audible has done that for at least a decade.
Please tell me my sarcasm meter is broken. Referring to the latest release of the Podcast app as half baked would be a kindness it doesn’t deserve. Apple seems to have forgotten to hire any staff in User Interface dept for at least a decade. This is why I love Apple. They don’t rush in with half baked products and services. You can use the Ram just not with one App. I would not be surprised if that wasn’t resolved next week. They wanted to release it and have more potential beta testing for the new iPadOS using the new unit with the ram. If so, they would want more devices out there testing software before announcing pro apps for iPad on the 7th.The new iPad pro that doesn't allow apps to utilise the large 16GB RAM and Apple Arcade.
I downloaded iPadOS 14.5 on a relative's iPad to check it out. The changes make the new Podcast app unuseable.THANK YOU. THIS APP IS HORRIBLE RIGHT NOW.
I have two friends with Podcasts... since iOS 14.5, their views/listens are 1/4 of what they used to be (they have an older audience, not tech native).
Both of these have been default behaviors since at least iOS 13, and are configurable in Settings.* Currently when I am done listening to an episode, episode disappears into a diff pile where it sits for 24 hours before being deleted. This doesn't happen with 14.5 where the episode continues to sit there, except with the tag "played." You need to manually DEL it yourself.
* Currently when one episode ends, the next episode on the list is automatically played. This doesn't happen on 14.5 where another episode plays but I cannot figure out the logic as to how it chooses which episode is played next.
* on my Podcast app I can clearly see which episodes I have, and they are grouped based on what podcast they belong to. In the new app, only one podcast shows up in SHOWS section. All the other ones only show up on the DOWNLOADS section. This makes no sense.
When it come to certain things Apple dies, mediocre would be a compliment. Are you suggesting that Apple is mediocre per the discussion on another thread? 🤣
