The fact that you used no paragraph breaks in that is funny as hell.

AI will soon transform the world beyond your wildest little dreams, of which you have none of course because you have zero vision for its capabilities to do so.

Siri is delayed because Apple is garbage and has no capabilities with AI. They are being passed horrifically and if OpenAI makes hardware they’re done.

Also the energy costs of AI are of ZERO consequence. We need to use ALL the energy necessary for AI because AI will be the only thing that can stop climate change. Humans cannot do it alone in time. AGI and ASI will build out fusion plants astronomically faster. They’ll solve innumerable climate issues clear across the board.

These are things that will be happening. Oh, by the way, AI will cure all human diseases within 15 years. Enjoy. And by the way, the very reason you know AI is the real deal is specifically because the cheaters in finance and on Wall Street are pouring literally hundreds of billions into it. Including the US government. Guess what buddy—these people do their due diligence.
The US government and Wall Street are famous for many things, doing due diligence is not one of them. Far from it.

Let’s face it: Apple’s a hard company more than they are a software company. One could argue the best new thing they introduced since Tim Cook took over as CEO was Apple Silicon. When it comes to AI nobody is looking to Apple to lead.

This was expected. iOS 19 will be a muted release, some new features and changes but the AI items will be limited. macOS will get stuff from iOS 18 I would guess such as dark icons, and some UI changes, but muted. iOS 20 looks to be more for AI, but that is almost 2 years from now.

You sound like my grandfather who told me we’d all be flying around in flying cars by now because he saw the film Metropolis and had a subscription to Popular Science. You cornucopian utopianists always amuse me. AI evangelists are simply that….evangelists. And because of that, by default, are cultists.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman last year reported that Apple was planning a "more conversational" version of Siri for iOS 19.4, powered by "more advanced large language models." However, in his Power On newsletter today, he said that development of this more ChatGPT-like Siri is now running behind schedule within the company.

iOS-19-Roundup-Feature.jpg

Gurman said Apple is no longer planning to unveil the more conversational Siri at WWDC 2025 in June this year, and it appears that the feature is no longer on track to launch as part of iOS 19.4 in March or April next year. Instead, he said that some Apple software engineers believe that the Siri overhaul will not launch until at least iOS 20.

This is yet another sign that Apple remains behind OpenAI in the generative AI space.

Gurman still expects iOS 19 to include some changes to Siri's underlying architecture that will allow it to handle more advanced queries.

In the meantime, iOS 18.2 added ChatGPT integration to Siri, and Google Gemini integration should follow in a later software update. And with iOS 18.5, which should be released in May, Siri is expected to gain on-screen awareness, understanding of personal context, and deeper per-app controls. Those features were initially expected to arrive with iOS 18.4, which further underscores Apple's internal delays in this area.

If Apple makes ANY marketing about Siri during WWDC with a promise of releasing it later this year...I'm going to leave the Apple Ecosystem. They are at least 3 years behind other companies, and they have the most money. This push to sell the iPhone 16s because of Apple Intelligence is the biggest disappointment. If Steve was still alive...so many people would be FIRED. This need to have a public release every year needs to end. Just push things when they're ready. Apple has now more than ever become the company that OVERpromises and UNDERdelivers.

I bet money xAI does this before OpenAI
Neither one will. Microsoft tried VR and failed…even with the DoD buying up a metric crap ton of headsets. Facebook can’t get widespread traction on Occulus and their “Ready Player One” delusion was trashed once Gen AI came out of hiding. Apple can’t move their $3000 VR ski goggles. OpenAI and Sam Altman know that their time is limited in begging for VC cash and investment from the US military so they are NOT going to develop ANY hardware. And do you honest to God, seriously think, that that ketamine addled junkie Elon Musk could ever seriously develop any kind of widespread, consumer hardware based on Grok and stick with it for any longer than any of his breeder moms? LOL…. Tesla is crashing. His starship is crashing…all the time. Grok barely beats DeepSeek. The only thing that Neuralink is good at is killing test monkeys. Starlink is niche with increasing competition with people who run their companies without the need for ketamine, adderall and 14 children from 4 breeder wombs and that’s what we know of as of today March 2, 2025…stayed tuned.

Apple is a hardware company. AI is software. Apple would never survive only on their software.
I disagree. It was Steve Jobs himself who said that Apple is a software company. He said that it’s the Apple software that’s miles ahead of everyone else. He said you can copy their hardware pretty good but software is much harder and takes years to get it right. And I agree. Apple used to be the leader in stable, secure and intuitive software for years. Now it’s not. They have the best hardware out there now but the software is weak.

Agreed

Which is why Apple should have kept their "AI" in the lab and not start jamming it in everywhere when it's a huge nothing burger
Agreed….but realistically they couldn’t because of all the AI cultist utopians who would be savaging them for supposedly “ignoring” or “missing” the revolution on forums such as this and the larger tech press. This delay until 2026 is precisely the inevitable consequence of Apple knowing that AI is ******** but being forced to “do something” to look like they’re not falling behind. Apple is only falling behind the “hype”. But it is the hype that’s driving the industry and driving the absolute insane investment flows into this AI. bubble thus Apple has to go along so as not to look stagnant which is the deathknell of this industry.

So iOS 20 release would mean we are at minimum end of 2026 for this. Most likely later and early 2027. Apple is a good 2 years out on these improvements then.

My biggest fear and what I have been saying all along is that by the time Apple figures out how to do all this on-device AI and LLM stuff, the requirements are going to be much more than what the current iPhone 16s have. By then, who knows, 16GB RAM could easily be the bare minimum on iPhones, etc. That's why its a tough sell for me to invest in Apple Intelligence when they are nowhere near where it should be.

When you have a CEO that has no concept whatsoever outside of finance as to what makes a great product, the very thing that set  apart and led to its meteoric rise, this is what you get. The recent 16e ad is a classic example of clueless.
No, not clueless. It’s entirely the opposite. Tim Cook and Apple as well as the rest of tech and Silicon Valley know that we’ve reached peak tech. There is no killer app or hardware left to produce. Not like we have seen since the initial PC or Apple Mac or the initial rollout of laptops, WordPerfect or Lotus 123 or Palm Pilot or iPhone and to a lesser degree iPad. Since these above examples all we have had are not revolutionary products but enhancements of the above. Really the last big revolution was the Internet and now that has been captured by Big Corp, Big Advertising and Big Government. Everyone thinks AI is the next big “revolution”. It’s not…all it is is the inevitable culmination of algorithmic spreadsheet and database sorting and analysis. It is the Ultimate Mechanical Turk. And that Mechanical Turk can only exist in a handful of Global Tech Firms’ massive data centers that are increasingly needing to be built near massive lakes or underground aquifers or existing or hastily built nuclear power plants. In some respects Apple is actually on the VANGUARD of meaningful and widespread consumer AI simply because they have to get AI’s voracious power needs AND the multi-billion parameter sets shrunk down to exist on die, locally on device, without blowing out the battery life AND be demonstrably useful, safe and effective. And most importantly of all, having it be demonstrably more valuable and differentiated than any other consumer ecosystem. THAT….is a very, very tall order.

Don’t worry, the iPhone 18 Pro will be “made for Apple intelligence”

Lmfao buddy please go research companies and investment.

Go search how much Amazon was losing per year before they made a single cent in profit.

Amazon lost literally billions per year before becoming profitable. It’s called infrastructure build out.
Amazon always had a “product” to showcase for all the VC and Wall Street funding for all that time. And after every book sold , after every warehouse made, after every delivery truck purchased or leased, after every cloud contract signed to AWS, there was evidence that Amazon would finally hit “escape velocity” and become self sufficient. Not so with AI. Not with OpenAI, not with Anthropic, not with xAI, not with Perplexity. Not even Gemini. Yes, Google is losing money with Gemini. It’s only masked by Googles other money making schemes. For God’s sake….OpenAI loses money on their APIs much less their app or their website. Every prompt into their APIs and every output from their APIs per user loses OpenAI money. Amazon always had an infrastructure product to show Wall Street they were more than an online book store. Jeff Bezos, however you want to view him, and I view him VERY negatively, at least showed a vision of Amazon as more than an online “Barnes and Noble”. Sam Altman on the other hand is showing nothing to Wall Street but an AI hallucination to entice money from them long enough for him to eventually sell the company to a Microsoft or Oracle, etc, when the inevitable AI. bubble bursts.

As an avid apple fan and supporter - this rubbed me the wrong way lol. I get it, ya had to sell phones and this was a better sales tactic than “built with the same Siri as the iPhone 4S, but with a cool screen border this time”.

Me too

It just seemed like really going unnecessarily over the top on the marketing side

And all for something that's have cooked (at best) right now
