Did you previously run the earlier betas on that machine?
I have a theory that the upgrade to the latest beta has removed the support but won't remove the support files if they've been installed from an earlier beta (as they weren't there in the original 10.6.4, the update won't remove them)
This would explain why the latest beta works for some people and not for others

What they said.

It's gone for now.

P.S No Apple updates this week.

Perhaps someone got cold feet because of security concerns.

What would be more fun than driving around and trolling for open wireless access points, and sending random print jobs to the devices of strangers? Most people don't bother with the hassle of securing their shared printers.

The public relations fallout would be worse than "antennagate." At least dropped calls don't burn up your consumables like ink and paper.

Ha, no. If it isn't an issue that wireless access points are open by default then this isn't a problem at all.

I did. It didn't print to my Canon printer. Running the same build. It sees the printers but will not print to them.

So people are testing it and are getting mixed results. What version of iTunes? Did you have 10.6.5 builds before?

Works for me using a windows xp machine running itunes 10.1 beta. I can print to an hp color laserjet and brother laserjet, and both from an iphone 4 and ipad running the latest 4.2 beta.

Your experience is not what some are getting, including myself. The only way we'll be able to tell what is going on is 1) compile the information as to what build of 10.6.5, what version of iTunes, what build of 4.2, what device, and what printer make/model it is or 2) wait until word from Apple.

If you want to do the first option, here you go: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc...DVCYTZPVlMwdVBFdndRT3c&hl=en&authkey=CMbm_YII

Thanks Warbrain, good idea!

I just added mine. Working so far...

LOL - it wouldn't make the news unless someone sent porn over to be printed...

If only Adobe hadn't been so greedy...

There was a time when all decent printers had PostScript. (and paid through the nose for it.) But then there was only one print driver needed, and a simple text file set up all the printer options and customizations. Seems like that could still be an option for iOS: print to any networked PostScript printer. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of PostScript printers any more.

I added a column for router - i suspect some problems may be caused by ports not getting set up right or something.

That has more to do with economics than greed by Adobe. PostScript interpretation is cpu intensive. In the old days, when cpu's were weak, it made sense to have an additional cpu in the printer to offload the host computer. Nowadays the host computers have lots of cycles and can easily rasterize the postscript without breaking a sweat, so from a cost perspective it makes no sense to put a lot of smarts into the printers.

The news is really deplorable. AirPrint was essential feature. But there was no sense to wait until Apple releases it. App Store is full of printing apps for iPhone and iPad as well. There're some good apps like: Print, Print'n'Share by EuroSmartz, these are for iPhone. Readdle's Printer Pro works fine on my iPad.

BTW, Printer Pro has a lite free version: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/printer-pro-lite/id399679167?mt=8

That spreadsheet is misleading. One must state how everything was installed. Just the latest betas and G.M or installed over previous betas.

True, but I think we can assume most developers will have installed new betas as they become available. At the very least to make sure that their apps still work without any problems.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8B117)

It's still in the iOS iPad page. And also if it wasn't gonna be there for the final why would apple keep seeding 10.6.5. Isn't the only reason they keep seeding is bc of integration with snow leopard.

Supporting multiple device types is not Apple's forté

Nothing new here. People will need to wait for a solution from Microsoft for this type of functionality.
