Society can keep it’s head buried in the sand I guess. It’s not going to make Covid go away, because it’s NEVER going away.
these people seriously want lockdowns to last forever. they dont give a damn about small businesses being destroyed by these draconian policies. and there is no evidence that we will have go to through this song and dance every single time a new variant comes up. it could wind up being just like the flu every year. and 'zero-covid' is a pipe dream. there is no getting rid of it. thats a fact, not an opinion

wow, did you miss the 'while vaccinated' part? whats with the huge reading problem so many people seem to have here? if you're afraid of the virus, get vaccinated, and let everyone else live their lives

So you're for companies mandating the vaccine? Cool. I'm down with that.

It’s happening where I live and I’m 100% for it. The local hospital system gave everyone until Oct 1 to be vaxxed or get fired. More companies need to do this.

We were so close to normality last month, and now it seems we’re going backward thanks to idiots who won’t get the shot.

they will soon change their minds about going to work. Just think about all the businesses that rely on people going to work, small coffee shops, restaurants and even eventually large manufacturing such as cars as they won't be needed because people are using

If Apple employees can be as productive from home than in the office all the these services and products create no real value and are as obsolete as making wooden wheels for wagons......

First, it was September... then October, and now January. Can’t even work 3 days a week inside the office. Pathetic!

It cost Apple $5 billion dollars for Apple to build the (Spaceship) HQ and now it’s just sitting there with no employees working inside the building.

What about the retail employees? How come they're still obligated to work inside the stores??

You seriously don't understand?

If you’re an employee looking to work from home, you would think they would use this time to find new fully remote work. It would be awkward to hear employees still complaining about returning to the office after Jan 1.

I work remote now and I hope to never have to go back into the office. I get more done with my job / around the house.

Unsure if you're serious or not. It's basic operational requirements. A shop cannot operate without staff. However, office staff can work effectively from home.
Yeah ok. I’m sure every apple product designer is bringing in those CNC machines by crane to their 600 sq ft San Fran apartment.

That's not what Tim Cook (CEO) thinks...

In June, Apple CEO Tim Cook sent a memo saying that employees needed to return to the office at least three days a week beginning in September. Many

“For all that we’ve been able to achieve while many of us have been separated, the truth is that there has been something essential missing from this past year: each other,” he said. “Video conference calling has narrowed the distance between us, to be sure, but there are things it simply cannot replicate.”

In the letter Wednesday, Cook also encouraged all employees to get vaccinated.

“For now, let me simply say that I look forward to seeing your faces,” he said in closing. “I know I’m not alone in missing the hum of activity, the energy, creativity and collaboration of our in-person meetings and the sense of community we’ve all built.”

Hmmm. The situation with the pandemic is changing day by day and companies need to be on top of what the latest guidance is. It's irrelevant what was said two days ago, last month or in June, if this month the guidance is the variants are contagious and companies and people have to act accordingly.

No sense packing thousands of people into a office space that's ripe for covid-19 cross contamination. I'm sure safe measures can be made at the storefronts as well.

Well the “guidance” changes pretty much weekly sooooo….

I agree 1000% with this. If Apple is that concerned about the safety of their employees at their headquarters, then they should be just as concerned about the safety of their employees in their retail stores and should not be bending the rules on this end. And by the way, there is something out there called “online shopping”. Perhaps if people decided to try this out for themselves they could buy something called ‘common sense’ and not take up any more valuable space on these forums with their diatribe.

Many companies have essential workers going in and companies have policies that deal with how this is to be managed. Does one think that Apple Park has a daily occupancy rate of 0 people? Apple stores are a retail location and the policies should be at least in line with other retailers in the same area.

My company announced that we were going back for sure in September then did a u-turn when delta hit and moved the date out to the start of December. I expect that following this news I will see another delay again since my employer likes to follow what the big companies are doing.

Bunch of pansies, get back to work, the wheels of economies need to turn. Stop paying people to be at home, they will soon change their minds about going to work. Just think about all the businesses that rely on people going to work, small coffee shops, restaurants and even eventually large manufacturing such as cars as they won't be needed because people are using COVID as an excuse to stay at home. The answer is to get the world vaccinated as quickly as possible.

Uhhhh. I have been working from home since March 2020. Keyword here ———WORKING. You think developers and others CANNOT work unless they are shoved in a very small cubicle? You think there are NO Apple employees working currently?

Believe me, they really want people back. These corps with big campuses are actually in trouble now. Employees are very hesitant to return even when govt guidance says it's safe, and companies that previously said no to permanent remote work are having to bend that more and more because they realize people will quit. Where I work, you can optionally return, yet few have, and for some reason absolutely 0 managers, leads, or other high-ranking people are back.

The sad truth I've learned working in this area and knowing many who do is, they want people physically there so they can make sure they work. Same reason they do open offices. Maybe Apple also has one good partial reason, secrecy.

Sounds like a lot of businesses just want to micro manage people. You don’t need to hover over someone’s shoulder to make sure they work. Did they do the job or not?

Not everyone can. But customer service, developers and more certainly can. Anything that doesn’t require such equipment.
