Did I miss the part where you can charge it to your AT&T account? My company pays for my phone bill, not me personally.

Seems like an oversight.

Will the iPad work with t-mobile

It's unlocked, so if T-Mobile provides you with a micro-SIM and works on these spectrum frequencies: UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz)
GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), it should work.

My read is that you're NOT using that much! Commuting regularly by train when I've got a power adapter at my feet causes my data use to skyrocket, easily past 1GB.
How often are you on Wifi or with your laptop?

I don't understand. Is the bill incorrect? How does your data use skyrocket to 1GB like that? Is the iPhone using up a bunch of data due to some sort of location service?

I have a MBP laptop. I use it a lot, but that shouldn't affect my iPhone data usage, correct?

Re Wifi, my assumption has always been that if Wifi is available that the iPhone will use that before AT&T data/3G. Is that not correct?

My last 4 months have seen a monthly iPhone data usage of: 183 MB, 161 MB, 230 MB, 215 MB for an average of 197 MB.

As previously stated... that is about my daily usage of my laptop using my existing Verizon MiFi. Given that the iPad usage is likely to be somewhere in between my iPhone and my laptop... I cannot imagine that the 250 MB plan would be sufficient.

Furthermore, if I was to stream video to my iPad, then it might actually exceed the usage of my laptop.

I hear you. I don't see how the 250 MB will be sufficient for me either. I have no idea how I am using that much data, but apparently I am.

So, if you turn it on for say 3 days and only use 50MB of data and turn it off, are you still billed the entire $14.99 or is it prorated based on how many days, or how many MB you used?

In theory, you could almost do this as a PAYG, providing they prorate.

I have never reset my iPhone and I have only used (received) 682MB and sent 76.5MB. That is since june of 2009. The 3G set up looks like a good deal. Plus, you get to see if all of the wifi early adopters are having problems.

You are pre-charged for the entire $14.99. No pro-rating.

No - I was talking merely about cell network data usage as measured by the iPhone. I was asking about your other methods of getting on the internet to see whether they might cause you to rely on your iPhone's cell connection less.

When I'm on the phone I multitask with Backgrounder and run an internet radio app, plus an IM app almost all the time just as I would on a computer.
Plus, I occasionally watch YouTube videos.

I'm a little confused. When I try to determine my data usage by looking at my iPhone data usage info am I looking at the sent or received data for how much I might use on an ipad?

If I add them together I've used 12.8MB sent and 464MB received since I reset yesterday at 7am. That's 477MB in one day! How is 250MB helpfull to anyone?

Why the freak do they have to charge sooo much for something that one is already paying for an iPhone? Sheesh! Greedy as all get out!

Why don't we have any unlimited 3G data plan in Germany?! I'd be glad to pay 30 bucks for it ...

What I would really like to see is price breaks if you pre-pay a couple months ahead of time.
For instance

$30/Month

$85/ 3 months

$160/ 6 months

$300/year

Can't you just be happy that you get unlimited for half what anyone else charges? You need to nickel and dime even more?

My guess is that they'll charge you the $30 ON TOP of the $15 you've already paid for the 250MB plan. In other words, it's not an additional $15 more, making the total $30.

Why wouldn't you do the 250 and try to save some money each month and if you go over you just pay for unlimited.

Taxes?

Is the 29.99 the total per month or is there also taxes and other charges making it more than 29.99 a month?

I'll bet it'll be a lot more than $29.99 a month given that AT&T has to make up one billion dollars (no pinky in the corner of the mouth) to pay for Obama-dont-care.

You mean the billion dollars that the government isn't going to give them for free next year? From when they got to deduct from their taxes money they spent on prescription drug plans - even though the money they spent was a gift from the government in the first place? That billion dollars?
