With iLife 09, the update cutoff was for purchases after March 8th. Even though I bought my Macbook 4 months before then (and even though I had Applecare with the purchase date registered), you could still enter your serial number and the day of the cut off and it worked.

Anyone have any luck with Snow Leopard? I bought my unibody Macbook December 08... I dont wanna sound cheap, I'll pay the $29 if it doesnt work... but hey, if it does...

I'm gonna try my serial number when I get home...

if the $9.95 is just shipping costs, why cant we just pick it up for free in the store??

My guess would be that they will say it still cost to ship it there and have employees get it for you etc...

and they don't say it, but I bet the 9.95 is helping pay for the physical materials of the disc, box, etc. so they can atleast break even on that.

Perhaps someone here knows how this usually works

In my household there are 4 macs: 3 of them running leopard + 1 running tiger. All of them are running iLife+iWork '08... Once Snow Leopard comes out, I'd like to upgrade all of them at the lowest cost possible...

Is it possible that Apple releases a MacBoxSet / FamilyPack that contains the Snow Leopard + iLife 09 + iWork 09 upgrades for 5 computers in the household? (assuming they already run Leopard)

Or, would the Tiger upgrade MacBoxSet work in computers running leopard, in case they release a 5 license Family pack?

If not... how's this?

Snow Leopard is a new OS, right? so once I install Snow Leopard in any mac, the Leopard DVD copy I used to upgrade that mac is now free to use to upgrade any other mac using Tiger, or sell it on eBay... am I right?

Thanks for your thoughts...

I cleaned up my bedroom yesterday (I went through three garbage bags!) and I found ten dollars in change and two Apple gift cards, which I assumed to be worthless. Well, I checked them out on the Apple Store site and I had $25! So I grabbed an Up-to-Date disk. It was only after I checked out that I realized I wouldn't be getting it until September. :(

The link "U.S. Customers" only takes me to an "empty cart" page. Is there a way around this?

sweet, I knew being impulsive in buying an iMac last Sunday wouldn't be a bad thing. :D Already saving money. lol

Yeah, me too. I've been getting that all day. Doesn't seem to recognise any date I enter. I'm in the UK, if that helps.

Ditto for me... I posted in another thread about it before this one appeared. I'm glad it's just not me then.. it's probably some kind of bug on the page or with the data they have. Hopefully they can fix it soon.

When I clicked on the link from the up-to-date page (on my new Mac) and signed into the apple store, it took me to an empty shopping cart as well. The strange thing was that when I tried the same link on my old Mac it was able to show me the up-to-date software in the shopping cart. What gives?

It's all good though because the link suggested above worked fine. I was able to add the software from my new Mac. Thanks for the tip!

Might be worth it to go in and ask. I know a lot of Apple resellers have permission to burn discs of OS X point updates for customers so it stands to reason that the Apple stores might be able to do the same with a major upgrade since it's technically free.

Bought mine on the 11th and I'm getting the same problem with the date. Doesn't matter which date I enter, I always see the red error message.

The install will probably just want you to insert a Leopard Disk to prove you have it before it will do a clean install. It is easy to solve this way without making you install the OS to then do an upgrade.

Hi,

I bought an iMac when Apple introduced Leopard. The iMac had Tiger pre-installed and a Leopard disc was in the box. My Leopard disc will NOT install unless I have Tiger already installed on my hdd. I found this out when replacing a hard drive with a blank drive. I had to install Tiger onto the hdd before my Leopard disc would allow me to erase and install.

It took a while.

That is annoying.
Especially since I like to reinstall everything every few months (just to get rid of unwanted litter all around my system.)

if we bought leopard from apple when it was released, do we still qualify? Or is this only for hardware?

Man, Apple really wants everyone to update to Snow Leopard. I wonder what's in it for them. They really are pushing this one hard.

The development costs of SL were heavily subsidized by FreeCreditReport.com, GoDaddy.com, and several Cayman Islands based Viagra and Cialis retailers, in exchange for heavy banner ads, interstitials, and other product placement in SL. The catch is that Apple really needs to sell SL for them to pay the full amount pledged.

Dag Nabbit.
I bought my girlfriend a macbook on June 7.

A day early, and a dollar short.

Oh well, Won't complain about the $29 price tag. I'll get the family pack anyway and update both of our macs.

Well at least they won't have to change the aqua scroll bars much, they already look like Viagra.

Dude, didn't they update the line right after that? You should return it and get a better machine as well as snow leopard.

The online registration order thing won't recognize my serial number. I bought my computer (a new 20" imac) on the 9th of June off Amazon. Anyone else having this issue?

My Apple shares love suckers like you. Missing the deadline by a day and shelling out $30 instead of grabbing a torrent.
