Apple Dethroned by Microsoft As Top-Valued Company Amid Tariff Fears

Microsoft is better placed than Apple but they will take a hit. They’ve been pushing their own hardware for a while now and any downturn in PC sales will mean lower Windows revenues.
Of course they'll take a hit, everything and everyone will. But their business is built around things that aren't being taxed to the moon and back right now. Having said that...

"Pushing their own hardware for a while now"? In what world? Their Surface division is left with only the Surface Pro and Laptop, having killed off basically all other lines while continuing on the path of "we price our products above the competition because these competitors are our close OEM partners and we don't want to piss them off", they handed over their accessories business to a third party who now creates mice and keyboards based on Microsoft's designs, Xbox is continuing its push into services further. Where do you see them "pushing" their own hardware?

will Apple cancel the iPhone 17 for 2025, or just the US release?
can they shift sufficient production to India and Brazil?

I'm always amazed by the fact that we're not surprised anymore by this figures. $2.59 trillion, more than $3 trillion.
Like peanuts
Agree, but at a certain point people go numb to high numbers. Most people think that a million is relatively further from 10.000 (100x), than a billion is to a million (1000x).

3 trillion is equivalent to every American having 10.000 dollars.

Apple has learned a very costly lesson it seems - all eggs in one basket and such. These market readjustments are very much needed. China will come to the table like the other 70 countries so far……

I’m curious as why apples stock is falling bc this is all Trump not Apple. I could see if Apple had already announced that the prices were increasing.
Either Apple eats the cost of the tariffs and makes less profit, or they pass the cost on to consumers — selling fewer products for less profit. Apple’s valuation is based on growth, and no one is expecting growth, but rather recession, in the current economic climate.

This is only the beginning unless the trade war nears it end before long. Apple is in a world of 💩
Well they decided to put all their eggs in the Chinese basket. Lets not forget Apple gave the CCP 270 billion to gain access to their markets. Built a iCloud data center and gave the encryption keys to the CCP as well.

Don't buy the pro model of the iPhone as its made in China. India is already making tariff deals and the non-pro is made there.

I guess Microsoft has it easier as they get a large portion of their profit from software and OS licensing fees, so the actual hardware can be assembled on the Moon for that matter. However, I believe that their hardware is also assembled mostly in China?
They have very little hardware anyways. The Xbox marketshare is already bad.

Apple is worthless, in the short term, without Chinese manufacturing. Everything they make, from a $10 headphone dongle, to a $15000 Mac Studio, is made there. The only thing they don't make there are a few things made in India (mostly for the domestic market there - somehow it's okay for India to protect their economy, but not the US) and the Mac Pro which as far as I'm aware is still made in Texas.

That’s how stocks work. They are not based on actual performance, but on expectations for future performance. Since the expectations for Apple is to earn less in the future due to these events, the valuation is lower.

At times this site is worse than reddit. Almost the same replies.

I left Reddit about 10 years ago because it just got to be too much. I don't see how anyone can stand that place today. I'm surprised it's still around. It's being kept afloat by selling the content users give it for free to AI companies, I'm sure.

I’d argue the difference between India and the Us is one country is not ran by a not so intelligent leader who is literally trying to destroy the middle class and bankrupt the lower class by protecting his and his billionaire buddies pockets

But I digress.
