This is true at the moment but I tend to upgrade my phone an awful lot more often than my car so there will conceivably come a day where the only new iPhones available to upgrade to are port less and my car isn't.

So?

I had a car that was only compatible with 30-pin iPhone connectors. THen came lightning. Life moves on. You can’t freeze technology forever just because some people might be inconvenienced.

I don’t think Apple yet has the technology to go into your home and remove the USB/lightning port from your existing phone, so you should be fine.

What exactly is the big deal? I have not used the wire. at least since I have purchased the iPhone 11 Pro. Wireless charges are dirt cheap and I have one on every room. Sure, many people do not use the phone the same I do, but for me, Apple does have the technology to just go portless.
Yes, I do realize that many people will scream, cry, complain, meme to death Apple, then learn to move on and accept those things to change.

This is cool. I just hope that it will work with bad internet.

It is good but completely useless if it requires an internet connection to work.

Well presumably that’s the point of this new mode. Some sort of supervisory code that allows you to do so.
This recovery mode needs to work if you are stuck in the area without an internet connection.
