Haha oh wow. I thought this place would be full of actual intellectual discussion on Apple products but all I've seen so far are people judging and making claims based on nothing more than what a dude in a turtleneck tells them. I guess I'll have to weed through and throw people on ignore for a while before I get that.

It most definitely IS that place. Which is why we don't suffer fools gladly.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

I love how everyone here is all about drinking Apple's kool-aid. I guess as someone who prefers Windows and Microsoft products over those of Apple (except in the phone market) I have a more level headed view and opinion. If I payed for a spot on a dev account I stole nothing. I knew the risks of the beta, I knew that they expire and I knew you would have bug/constant updates/lots of additional problems (such as the beta versions of iTunes being ****). Some of you need to grow up and stop accusing people of being things like terrible medics, thieves and most of all just calling them names for not being a developer but using the betas.
Anybody that is still choosing to use Windows in 2011 can hardly be called level-headed. Financially constrained, loath to change, scared, yes. Level headed, no.

You all apparently work under completely different circumstances than I have ever encountered. I've never had such a tight-bum boss as to fire someone for charging a phone, etc. Seriously? That's completely ridiculous.

As for using the workstation, you do NOT know the policies there. Alot of hospitals have computers anyone can use for whatever they want in lounges, etc. And he could have been on a break, or 'on call' when he is free to do whatever he wants (watch movies, fix his iphone, etc).

Those wouldn't be called workstations then.

And I understand that you haven't worked in these circumstances before. McDonald's, as I hear, is fairly lax. No worries. We all have to work somewhere.

Err..that's a very narrow minded view. I don't want to start a PC vs Mac fight here because this isn't the place. But needless to say I'm non of the above. Anyway I hope we can get back on the track of an actual intellectual conversation instead of these iOS Dev slot buyer witch hunts.

iOS Beta 4 Deactivated

I work for an app developer, and my phone was being used to test beta items. My phone deactivated Thursday afternoon, and I had to do a factory restore to get it running again. Needless to say, my beta was being used for legit reasons, and the fact Apple shut it down is annoying.

If you paid to be a dev, and are helping Apple beta test iOS 5, only to have them brick your phone for no real reason, I'd be pissed. NDA or otherwise, you can't honestly tell me you expect people to side with Apple. This wasn't a case of the beta being unstable, it was Apple being ******.

I put my iPhone (which has iOS5 beta 4 on it) in DFU mode and downloaded the 4.3.5 ipsw, and tried to do the restore but it gave me an error (1604). It's done this before when I tried to downgrade too.

Don't understand why people keep posting it works when it simply doesn't...

Once you are on 5beta, you can't go back to 4.x

I thought I'd get downvoted. But with 5.0b on my phone, if apple disables it, and I can't go back to 4, how is that good for anyone? And how has someone who isn't selling slots, but just wanted 5.0beta on their phone hurting apple?
you can, i did twice!

It worked for me on an ipad and iphone 4

No, people need to know what they're doing before wining like school children.

You cannot downgrade from any iOS 5 beta to 4.3.5 using the iTunes 10.5 Beta you used to install iOS 5 in the first place.

You need to use the latest "public" version of iTunes to downgrade.

I use an external drive with Snow Leopard installed to downgrade iOS 5 to iOS 4.3.5 using the latest version of iTunes.

I've done this with every beta thus far (to 4.3.3 - 4.3.5, depending on iOS 5 beta).

Dude are you like a Cake Boss? You should make a Mac Mini line of cakes. That would be delicious.

it's one way. You should know that.

You might need to reformat to get 10.4 ;)

Expired iOS 5 beta

You can do a factory reinstall of 4.x. Works just like restoring from a jailbreak.

I have tried downloading 4 different versions of ios4 and i get the same "not for this build message" every time. So far, mine is bricked. Any suggestions on where to get a 4.x that works?

from what ive read you have to downgrade itunes from 10.5 to 10.4 for that to work, best bet is to install the new beta, thats what I did
