The Series 7 is a great smart watch but the upgrade over my Series 6 is minuscule. I was hoping for some big under the hood changes but this is almost nothing, a slightly larger screen, that's basically it.

Why would Apple put a chip in a cheaper Series 6 when the exact same chip can go in a more expensive Series 7?

Did this really need its own article?

The Series 7 is Apple's most high-end Apple Watch model, featuring advanced health features and display technology.

I think the article is highly misleading in that regard – what actual "advanced health features" compared to the Series 6 does the 7 have? I would upgrade, if it did, but they didn't announce any feature that would not becoming to other Series' via a software update.

Anyone else getting 'delivery currently unavailable' while checking out? If the first or second batch is sold out, wouldn't they just push the delivery dates back? This is for 44mm, Stainless, Graphite, Solo Loop.

Can’t believe they’re not selling a space grey aluminium watch this year. It’s literally stopping me from buying one, I’ll stick to my S4 for now

What a marketing scam by the boys in Cupertino … come up with two new watch faces, slap them on last years watch .. stretch the screen 1mm and sell the hell out of it … discontinuing last years watch which is also this years watch .. you can’t make this s**t up!
It’s a relatively minor upgrade, has some other tweaks like fast charging too, for the same price. It’s not super exciting but I’m not sure how it’s a scam? And no one is forcing you to buy an AW 7…

happy AW day to all those ordering a watch that can't last 24 hours without charging and that will be obsolete in a few years.
The AW isn't much of a traditional watch that you're falsely making an equivalence to, is it?

It's more like a mini computer that you wear on your wrist, which also shows the time

The Watch is quite mature now and we should also expect less improvements year-on-year going forward tbh.

Low hanging fruits remaining are battery life and various health sensors. The latter is not too enticing for many users, hence the SE being introduced.

I agree, both the iPhone and Watch are mature pieces of technology now. My series 6’s battery life is amazing, I can easily get two days of use out of it.

The big improvements will be health sensors like you say. I just have pretty big reservations regarding their efficacy and reliability, as my watches O2 sensor is really more of a gimmick than a reliable sensor.

The health sensors are more like bonus features to me. And I presume many think the same, which is why Apple introduced the SE, focusing on "core" smartwatch features.

There goes my idea on getting a reduced price Series 6 with the new 7 out.

Seems like a large enough gap between the 7 and the SE where the 6 could have existed.

I hope that the person holding the gun to your head and forcing you to buy it gets apprehended soon
I have a series 6 and will skip this upgrade - No offense to those that decide to buy, but just not worth the cost and trade in value for me this year.

Yeah .. I guess I was being too sarcastic - but that always doesn't come across in a forum like this - I'm sure the upgrade is worth it for a lot of folks that need the Series 7.

I know - As stated I'm not buying the series 7 - Happy upgrade day to all of you that did buy the 7.
