Good!!!
That thing was a good five years out of date, if not more.
Now just replace the Touch Bar M1 MacBook Pro with a new M2 MacBook Air, discontinue the iPod touch, and I think they would have the best lineup they’ve had in years.
They would literally have a product at every price point that I could genuinely recommend, no pulled punches
There is no TouchBar M1 in their lineup!Good!!!

The only thing older than educational tech is prison tech:7th-generation Intel Core i5? ?
Apple has no shame selling an outdated machine like that to educational institutions. That thing's from like 2017.
I'm gonna hang on - since I got the MBP '17 on the cheap, until next year.Nice knowing you Intel.
Apple silicon valley chips are just way too good. Real talk!
Intel rebranded to make it sound like a quad core. People don't expect Core i5 to be a dual core. They even almost got me one time. That first Intel iMac had a Core duo chip, not even in Intel‘s current series of chips started in 2009 with the first I three, I five, I seven, etc series
I think Apple must be thinking they need an i3 or i5 dual core replacement chip. Maybe M2 range would have an M2 Mini option with 6 Core (2 fast / 4 slow).
I mean they have left the low end market open for takeover right now. Maybe M1 would be the M2 Lite.
Ahem…There is no TouchBar M1 in their lineup!
The M1 13” has a touch bar. There is no TouchBar M1 in their lineup!
I agree with your timing and SoC choices except for the Mac mini Intel replacements. That took way longer than expected for Apple to fulfill their contract with Intel and other vendors for the iMac 21.5"
So the remaining Intel Macs are
Next Macs to be updated Released as early as Apple SoC iMac 27" Apr 2022 M1 Pro & M1 Max $1,099 Mac mini Apr 2022 M1 Pro & M1 Max Mac Pro Dec 2022 Multi M1 Max dies in multi die package
That is an expected move.
Only users with intel-virtualization needs could buy this kind of machine.
I see it as a distinct possibility if they want to to improve the economies of scale of the most expensive M1 chip.I agree with your timing and SoC choices except for the Mac mini Intel replacements.
I don't believe they'll put the M1 Max in the MM. I think it will be two SKUs of M1 8/16GB and M1 Pro 16/32GB. I think the price of the M1 Max will put the Mini out of reach for its target customer.
Now just replace the Touch Bar M1 MacBook Pro with a new M2 MacBook Air, discontinue the iPod touch, and I think they would have the best lineup they’ve had in years.
Only thing I can see them adding in the future would be an M1 Bionic, which would be a between the M1 and M1 Pro.
The real question is, will we ever see falling prices and growing sizes on SSD's, ala Moore's Law? I find it weird the the prices of SSD's and RAM have pretty much stagnated over the last several years. All very fine if you're happy with 256GB, but a frustrating rip off to the rest of us. A 1TB SSD should have been the same price as an old 1TB Fusion Drive by now. Will we ever see a Fusion Drive again?
Not exactly true. The first intel iMacs we’re core solo. If I remember correctly they were not 64 bit but the next model core duos were 64 bit. That first Intel iMac had a Core duo chip, not even in Intel‘s current series of chips started in 2009 with the first I three, I five, I seven, etc series
