Apple has lowered the price of the iPhone SE with 64GB of storage from $499 to $449 in the U.S. following its iPhone 7 event yesterday. Likewise, the monthly installment price now starts at a lower $18.71 per month through carrier financing. The 16GB model remains $399.

Apple released the iPhone SE in March 2016 as a low-cost successor to the iPhone 5s, much to the delight of customers who prefer a 4-inch screen. Apple has not disclosed iPhone SE sales numbers, but in April the company said demand for the device was "very strong" and higher than expected.

Meanwhile, Apple has doubled the storage capacities of two iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models while giving them a $100 price drop each. The year-old smartphones now come in 32GB and 128GB storage capacities for $549 and $649 respectively.

Apple, bring us an all new smaller compact original size 4-inch iPhone!! Ceramic glass, no protruding camera, no antenna lines!
No one wants a series 3 version of the 4-inch iPhone 5 originally released in 2012!

But... But... Here in Europe the price of the 64Gb SE remains the same! Pretty high at almost 600€

EDIT: my bad, I just checked that the 64GB has lowered it's price from 589€ to 549€. Not bad.

Love my SE, use it as a secondary device every day. I'll probably snag a 64gb edition used off ebay when the prices drop a little bit more. 16gb just doesn't cut it for me, even on a device like this that I don't use as my main phone.

Don't know about Spain but here in Russia Apple actually does cut 64GB iPhone SE price (from approximately $700 to $620)

Aside from UK pricing which has been effected by 'political crap' and the speaker pod things, I did not see much wrong with Apple's pricing this event.

Tim Cook, I will give you an amazing advice for free.

There are 2 kinds of iPhone SE users:
  1. Users that prefer the smaller form factor and lower price. For those users, the 5se should start at 399 for 32GB of storage. They would sell like crazy without handicapping them, like the 16GB version.
  2. Users that don't need lots of storage, Tim Cook. They need a modern SE, they hate streaming services and the "cloud", they think that the iPod is dead and miss the classic, Tim. They are lunatics, and are willing to kill people with their teeth for this product, Tim. It must come with AAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL the storage, price be damned. For those, you should have 2*256GB, and price it at 1000$. it would be sold out, always.
:)

Wow.

Now just add a 128GB model.

My guess is they're going to clear these out by March and introduce a new 4" 7.

But why drop the price now? This only encourages more lower end purchases, especially since this still has the headphone jack.

Don't see this helping Apple's sales figures.

If I was Tim Cook, I would agree with you and make it happen. I would even send you a brand new Macbook Pro that would would ship later this year rather than in 2017 for your free advice since your advice would make Apple over a billion dollars in revenue.

Because Tim didn't receive your free advice, he will never know how to unlock this extra hidden revenue from this planet and you will never receive your free Macbook Pro 2017 edition.

Um what are you talking about? It has all of the specs the iPhone 6s has except 3D Touch, which isn't that useful anyway.

Hmmm. I was going to buy a 128gb iPod Touch to replace my Nano for running, ect. Now with the price so close to the SE I can't decide if I should just go for that instead. I'd give up space but gain some speed and technology.

Sorry, with respect, exactly what are you taking about? iPhone SE does not have all of the specs the iPhone 6s.

iPhone SE is a device that was old news from day one. SE has a lesser display, no 3D touch, a slower first generation Touch ID, lesser FaceTime camera, no barometer, old design, etc.

Bring an all new 4" ceramic glass, no protruding camera, no antenna lines iPhone!

Great iPhone. I will be upgrading to the iPhone 7 shortly. But I will miss this Phone. Just slightly small for my needs.
