Many people never use barometer.

I didn't know my phone had a barometer until yesterday reading this thread.

This is a serious question, what would be the purpose of having a barometer? I could only think of maybe weather related stuff, and maybe tracking changes in elevation, but that was the only stuff I could think of. I am curious what others use it for, maybe I might play around with it.

The "old design" is very arguably better looking than the current design.

I agree with this. Actually I may have mentioned it on this thread.

I don't think that the current form of the iPhone does not fit in with the evolution of change of the previous iPhones.
The 6 looks like many other android phones, and I thought it was an android phone when I first saw it.

Had you the choice of an all-new 4-inch from the following, you would choose SE?
Somehow I doubt that very much.

All-new ceramic glass iPhone 8 - 5.5-inch - $699
All-new ceramic glass iPhone 8 - 4.7-inch - $599
All-new ceramic glass iPhone 8 - 4-inch - $499
iPhone SE (aka iPhone 5 Series 3) - 4-inch - $399

Tell that Essie its days are numbered. :D

I'm sure the made-up phone in your head is obviously worth the extra money to you than the imperfect SE from reality. The trouble is, the phone of your dreams doesn't actually exist, so I could think up a different iPhone, in *my* head, that I would prefer to even your, wonderful though I am sure it might be for you, imaginary fantasy iPhone. :D

There's a reasonable chance Apple might make an iPhone in the future that I like even better. Bring it on. But I'm very happy with the SE for now. Comparing it with a theoretical iPhone from the future seems a bit pointless. Yes I would spend more than I did on my SE for a different iPhone if I thought it was worth it. Does that make you happy? o_O:p:D

The SE is basically (most of) the internal guts of the 6S in the exterior, customer-facing form factor of the 5/5S. You may feel that's a bad thing. I think it's a good thing, because I like the 5-series form better than the 6-series'. The cheaper price tag was just a bonus to me. I might even prefer the 5-series' design to your magical ceramic one, sorry! Or Apple's next re-design, we'll see... Probably in about a year. Apple re-used a good form factor from a previous model rather than an 'all-new' one for the sake of it, I honestly don't see the problem with that. I wish they'd do the same with the Mac Pro actually!

Have you not been paying attention to the keynote and follow up? There is no room in the SE form factor to do what you want. One of the great advantages of moving to the larger form factor is the ability to use more space inside the phone. The small form factor is one of the limiting factors that made apple fall behind others in terms of features.
I don't see why the single camera of the 7 wouldn't fit in the SE. It looked barely bigger than the 6S camera, which is in the SE. And if Apple truly has this much trouble fitting features in their phones while wasting so much room for marginally useful features such as the "taptic engine" and "stereo" speakers, I'd say they simply have their priorities wrong. But anyway, I'm very happy with the SE camera as it is. If I could improve one thing, it'd probably be the display which, while still good, is now a bit behind in terms of contrast.

Hard, but not impossible, if they use 3D construction in SE logic board and rearrange internals, is possible fit a taptic engine and a bigger camera, remember , SE is more chubby than the iPhone 7.

Apple has lowered the price of the iPhone SE with 64GB of storage from $499 to $449 in the U.S. following its iPhone 7 event yesterday. Likewise, the monthly installment price now starts at a lower $18.71 per month through carrier financing. The 16GB model remains $399.

Apple released the iPhone SE in March 2016 as a low-cost successor to the iPhone 5s, much to the delight of customers who prefer a 4-inch screen. Apple has not disclosed iPhone SE sales numbers, but in April the company said demand for the device was "very strong" and higher than expected.

Meanwhile, Apple has doubled the storage capacities of two iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models while giving them a $100 price drop each. The year-old smartphones now come in 32GB and 128GB storage capacities for $549 and $649 respectively.

I was considering the SE with the price drop I might spring for it

I have been doing this for years with the older iPhones, and have tried with my current one but pressing it causes a slight jerking of the phone and it blurs my picture.

For example: Four months ago today, my newest daughter was born prematurely after my wife had preeclampsia and starting having heart failure, and then having an emergency C-section.

My wife was in the hospital for weeks without being able to see her little 2 lbs. baby. I spent all my time either seeing my wife, or my daughter in the NICU.

While doing the skin-2-skin with her, I would try to take pictures of us with my iPhone to send to my wife. The one handed pictures were extremely hard to do, and sometimes I would drop my phone from the round slippery edges. Using the volume buttons one handed would cause the phone to jerk slightly and make the photo blurry.

I think it is good while sitting down, with two hands on it. But, for me, it was not designed well for 1 handed use.
That is certainly an issue at slower shutter speeds (ie, inside usually). But outside during decent daylight, the shutter speed is usually short enough.

They put the 6s camera into the SE (which was an upgrade from the 5s and 6 camera). However, the whole front assembly from the proximity sensor, Facetime camera, display, touchscreen assembly and home button was carried over from the 5s. To change anything there, including a taptic engine requires larger changes than were done converting the 5s into the SE.

I think the barometer helps track when you go up or down stairs. I'm not sure what that does but it does allow the phone to know elevation changes that fine.

If you live where Virgin Mobile or Boost Mobile service is good, the 64gb SE has been $399 from day 1 and U.S. Cellular is currently running a $299 deal on the prepaid 64gb models.

That's cool, I figured it had something to do with that.
But, would not having it on a phone be a deal killer?

Not to me. I don't think matters if my phone can tell elevation changes. Maybe it tracks my exercise a bit better, but just a bit.

Both Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile are subsidiaries of Sprint and use Sprint towers (if that helps folks try to determine coverage quality). My wife is on Virgin Mobile and I'm on Boost Mobile and we both got in on the 64GB SE a while back. Great price. Great phone. Great service (in our experience).

I just upgraded to the SE from a 6+. It is night and day. Like coming back to an old love. I pick up my 6+ and it seems pure tablet to me now. I like texting with one-hand, photos with one-hand, browsing with one-hand. The function is nicer, the camera not protruding is better. It's just better. Hope they make a 4 inch iPhone 8. The name of SE seems to imply they won't make a SE2.

I can picture this. I recently bought my wife a SE iPhone, and I cant help but think how nice it would be to be able to use an iPhone one handed.

I have a 6s Plus 128GB, which I upgraded from the 5s. While I didn't like the design of the 6, I thought having the larger size phone would be worth it.

I was so wrong. Once Apple has a 4" iPhone with 128GB, I will most likely "downgrade" to it.
