Helping is great and all, but isn't this sort of community support built into corporate budgets as part of their tax strategy? If these tornados hadn't hit this money would have still ended supporting something similar.
No. Somes org s are just cheapskates

Or they have and just don’t announce it to get some kind of pat on the back….
Hahahaha. At least you believe that. If a corp is not too cheap to support their community, they announce it and get out and help, part of the whole support thing, ya know?

Your post requires significant clarification.

I also assume, you didn’t even read what Tim Cook said and just interjected a snide comment, which Apple (As a company) offered condolences first for the victims of the natural disaster zones, then he said after the fact; ‘we are donating…….’

You See, that’s what respectable companies do, they pay their respects by acknowledging the situation first and then offer how they would like to contribute. That’s called mutual respect, not ‘broadcasting to everyone’, as you’re making it sound like grandstanding.

There, this should clarify what really occurred.
Sorry but no, I’m with that poster, stop announcing it, it’s looking for praise ?

Please note you are the one calling yourself an idiot. I never mentioned such a thing once, but your the second person to refer to themselves as such in reply to my comment. An odd way to reply by insulting yourself and millions of others?
Social skills tip: when you ask a question of the form “What kind of person would…” the group being targeted hears “What kind of idiot would…”

Or they have and just don’t announce it to get some kind of pat on the back….
All companies announce donations, foundations, charities etc, I guess all the complainers here should blame McRumors for reporting Apple centric news announcements and disturbing their crankiness.

I can't either. Why some people can't temporarily put cynicism aside and muster up a bit of compassion for those suffering, and appreciate the help that is offered, is something I just don't get.
Cynicism is interesting. While there’s a time and a place for it, blanket cynicism is kinda dumb and certainly takes no particular aptitude to achieve. Dumb optimism is pretty dumb, sure, but dumb cynicism is just as dumb. There’s no thought behind either. And since we live in a cynical era, dumb optimism at least has the benefit of cutting against the cultural grain and requiring the capacity for independent thought. Requiring far more intelligence and skill is cynicism where cynicism is due but guarded or nuanced optimism where cynicism isn’t due, and the capacity for unguarded optimism when it’s due.
