Exactly what I came here to say, “WT(a)F?”What the actual f...
This is pretty much an essential feature on the Watch. It's quick (and satisfying) compared to long press or going to the settings app. Didn't expect this at all.
1. Buy a new Apple Watch and put up with the new way of using it (initial bad experience might colour their use and opinion of Apple as it is already)
2. Find a watch from a different company that works for them; or 3. Don't buy a new watch at all. In two thirds of those choices, Apple loses a customer.
I bought a Series 5 about a month before things shut down, just in time to be home working on my Mac all day. I’m only getting even more regretful of that purchase.
No. I broke mine by brushing against a flat wall as I walked past. Are you saying you pressed too hard for a force touch press that you shattered your screen?
Almost certainly because it's a lot easier to crack the screen of the watch than people realise. It looks solid enough but you can't know how solid until you break it. If, like me, you've ever had the misfortune to break one then you'll see that the screen is eggshell thin.
It is significantly more fragile than the crystal cover on most watches. And, because it's an integral part of the watch and not just a protective cover, a lot more expensive to replace.

Force Touch used in the Weather app on watchOS 6
Yes but that’s because Apple have chosen (for some reason) not to use long-touch there (which is an almost identical interaction - I always found you had to hold a force-touch for a while anyway). They could have. Weird that they didn’t.Well this isn’t even a switch to Haptic Touch! You’ll have to go to Settings to change views in Calendar. Crazy!
It's always been a useless feature in the above example. I can tap two times faster to cycle through the other two options (or only once if that's where I'm going), instead, I have to hold down longer and then move my finger and pick one.
Even if you start at your menu of cities, it's still faster to tap three times (and that's assuming you want %rain, the other options are less taps).
I’m confused. I’m running watchOS 7 beta on my series 4. On a watch face I now just tab and hold and I get into the face customisation (haptic touch) as opposed to pressing hard (force touch). Seems no functionality has been removed just now haptic as opposed to force.
Bingo. (If they do it). Two finger to replicate a force touch. Nice idea! Thanks Apple, but can I just have tap with two fingers to do what pressing the digital crown does?
