I feel force touch is an essential part of Watch OS. Can not believe Apple are getting rid of this feature. Feel like we are going backwards here! 😭

This is horrible. It would be one thing if they replaced it in a place that was convenient, but I would toggle between calendar views and home screen views all the time. They can’t be hidden away in settings.

also, they force click thing on Mac where you could press deeper on a word or link to search or preview? That was made to be “tap with 3 fingers” by default, but you can change it back in settings

Next step is to remove it from the MacBook trackpads and start using the new butterfly trackpad mechanism used in the iPad Pro Magic Keyboard.

I’m confused. I’m running watchOS 7 beta on my series 4. On a watch face I now just tab and hold and I get into the face customisation (haptic touch) as opposed to pressing hard (force touch). Seems no functionality has been removed just now haptic as opposed to force.
How do you switch view modes in Calendar?

"Not enough users are aware of it"?
If I remember correctly, while the watch is syncing for the first time it tells you about Force Touch using the small "tutorial" they have. Are people just not paying attention to that?
So are we considering the idea that most Apple Watch users only use it to check the time? I find that extremely odd and if that is the truth why don't these people just get a simpler and cheaper watch that can simply tell them the time?
A fashion statement. I genuinely wonder how many people (mainly teenagers) want an Apple Watch just to show it off. You're wearing an incredible piece of technology just to tell time and change out some bands. Save your money and get a regular watch, as you said.

I hate it. Already doing futile presses that I’ve committed to muscle memory for clearing notifications. Strangely it still works to customise watch faces.

Well this isn’t even a switch to Haptic Touch! You’ll have to go to Settings to change views in Calendar. Crazy!

Looks like I’ll eventually upgrade my Series 2 to just a 5.
If Apple keeps series 5 when the new one comes out, they might preload the series 5 with WatchOS 7. (My work iPhone 8 was loaded with iOS 12 when I got it.)
So, better be careful there.

This is lame. I really like Force Touch on the Apple Watch. I was pissed when they removed it from the iPhone, because I used it all the time. Haptic feedback just isn't as good as the 3D Touch was.

Yeah, this is one of the worst news items coming from WWDC. I always thought it was a clever way to switch views and keep the UI from getting too cluttered. This is especially important for things like calculator apps that already have a ton of buttons on the display. Hopefully they will at least keep it around as a button and allow us to customize it to a certain action. For instance, maybe setting force touch on the watch face to bring up rich information on whatever complication you're pressing on. Or even something more basic, like force touching the entire watch face to bring up Activity, Workouts, or some other app. Or maybe to dive into the home screen with all the apps? Maybe a force touch could be set to open up Control or Notification Center inside of an app instead of having to do the awkward pause and slide up.

How am I supposed to change views on apps? Are we supposed to clear notifications one by one now?
At the very least, you can still one click to clear all notifications. On top of all notifications, there is a big enough “Clear all” button to tap and that will do the trick. If you want to change watch app grid view to list, change it in settings.
Are we supposed to only be able to change watchfaces on the phone app?
No. All you need to do is pressing the watch face long enough until the menu pops up. Apple is thinking about replacing 3D Touch from everywhere. It’s mostly that watchOS is far more drastic than iOS that force touch hardware is completely disabled while on iPhone at least some features are still force touch supported.

How can I compose a new message in mail or a new text in messages?????
Simply swipe up at the top of your message/email list, and there is a big blue “new message” button for you to compose new email/message.

I don't think you can do mail, but it's not something I'd try so I don't know.

For messages: "Siri, compose a text to Fred"
Swipe up at the top of email/text message list and there is a blue “new message” button. Tap it to start composing new message/email.

”Similarly, changing the Calendar view must now be done in Settings”

wait what? if I want to quickly change between list and today view, I need to go back to the app drawer, find Settings, scroll down to Calendar, and pick the new view?

I hope I’m wrong?
This is seriously a bad idea if that’s the case. I hope they end up at least giving us a long press instead. Even though that’s also a downgrade. 3D Touch and Force Touch for the win, Apple!

This is not the answer you are looking for.

No I wanted a efficient answer for watch OS 7. How do I compose or create a new email message and send to a sender without the use of force touch?

Excellent. This explains it. But I don’t think I will upgrade to watch is 7.

What a bad decision from Apple. I have a iPhone 7 from work and still love, love how responsive 3D-Touch gestures are. Always enjoyed using it from the very beginning. I don’t think that the reason for removing it, is because many people don’t know about it. There are so many settings and stuff many people don’t know about it either. Latest case from a friend of mine: „Wow, now I understand what airdrop means. I always sent pictures and documents from my iPhone to my MacBook via email.“
Me: „...but you could have also just used iCloud to sync all of that“
Friend: „I thought iCloud is just for backups“ 🤯

I will really miss force touch as I really miss 3D Touch.
Hopefully they also remove force touch from the Trackpads as well, and go back to a mechanical click...so that everything is consistent again... /irony
