Maybe he is not CEO but he has many points just on target. And Im sorry I use Apple products over 20 years and I was never as confused with they line up as I am now. I skipped on iphoneX (first time ever) and I did not buy new MBP. That comes from a person with disposable income and love of Apple. Killing Aperture pissed me a bit but removing Magsafe was a last drop. Im sure there is tons of people like me around.
Same here. I'm keeping my current MBP until it dies. If there's no MagSafe in sight, then I might as well go back to a standard laptop with Linux and save some cash.

LOL
Well conversations do occur outside of these forums. :)
Yup, a newbie signs up with a single post and is the first to respond and everyone upvotes it. If that isn't suspicious I don't know what is....
Because newly registered users cannot possibly have correct thoughts on the matter. Their opinion is just as valid (and not suspicious) as others.

This is going to be related to the battery / throttling issue more than anything. It was heavily in the news right around the period of the poll and with the fairly consistent dripping of bad news it stayed on peoples' minds much longer than usual. People who had never owned an Apple device were going to be inclined to rate them lower despite having no direct experience; however, that is exactly what the poll was designed to capture. Reputation is a combination of experience and word-of-mouth and the news about Apple at the time was quite negative. Unless Apple screws up royally again their reputation next year should recover nicely.

...as if being a CEO is some sort of guarantee that he's doing a good job? There is a lot to criticize about Tim Cook, and no, I don't believe he's doing a good job. Do I think I could do a better job? Not at all. I know that other CEOs have though, and that's why we can place the blame squarely on his shoulders.

Agreed. One thing I've noted in my career is that each of us is highly capable... to a point. The CEO of a $100M company may be great at his/her job, but once that company grows to $500M they still try to run it like before... and as a result it's time to bring someone else in. Sometimes it's the portfolio of products. The CEO of 10 highly integrated products may be great, but once you insert 50 other non-integrated products he/she is lost. That's true for every position in every company.

This is temporary. Once Apple finishes it's acquisition of old school magazines and wrapping up production of TV shows that will interest, well, no one other than people with crushes on Tim Cook, Apple will be all hunky dory at #1 again.
[doublepost=1520951021][/doublepost]

But Tim Cook is the one that is making such a mess of Apple's product line up -- and can't even see it's a mess. And in the project jumble, the flagship products are not even the insanely great things they were a decade ago. Geeze Louize, the so-call top-of-the-line professional MacBook Pro features a two-bit playskool-esque keyboard, a worthless Touch Bar except for slick ad photos, and port "versatility" that requires dongles to get anything done.

Love it, hate it, this is Tim Cook's Apple. If you hate what you see then Tim can't fix it because he created it.

Very true! The adage that you can't fix a problem with the same mindset that created it has been proven true many times. Apple is in a bit of a mess with the product line. Lack of updates. Quality. Quantity. You name it... they've got it. Regardless of how good the products are, something is amiss. It's time to step back and reset expectations.

Can the Apple leadership do that? Probably. Will they? Unlikely. Too many egos.

Been faithful Apple user since the FIRST iPhone. But this year, when the glorious Apple leader (NOT Steve Jobs and NO imagination or innovation in his body) told me and the millions of other faithfuls that he'd bless us by letting US pay for HIS company's battery issues, I said "done". I now use an Android device and getting used to it. Would I like to go back to Apple...yep...will I go back...NO. You only get to screw me over once Timmy boy, then I'm gone.

A lot of this is probably due to the press around Apple's battery handling. The level of misunderstanding around that issue is enormous... It's been remarkable that the the world's most valuable company has maintained so much goodwill among a cynical public.

Now to the interesting question: UPS? WTF?

Chick-fil-A has earned the devotion of a particular demographic, but who thought UPS belonged in the top 10?

Sure, but think about it - it's not something you can think up in a moment, yet it is the first response to the article, and not only that, look at just how rapidly it got upvoted lol. The entire thing smells of being orchestrated. Either that or Apple is indeed doomed.

HEB is a local Texas grocery store...this list is so random.
This is a super weird list, because I can't imagine a situation where I'd be asked to compare Wegmans and Apple in a head to head. Wegmans is the greatest grocery store ever, but aside from being a place where I fork over money for goods, there's not much overlap with Apple.
[edit: apparently Aldi is a grocery chain too...]

4 of the top 10 are grocery stores-- 5 if you count Whole Foods as an Amazon property. If I had to guess, I'd say they conducted the survey in grocery store parking lots and people looked around and mentioned the first brand they saw.

There's a Chick-fil-A in the parking lot, a UPS truck delivering... It starts to fit together when you think of it that way.

It has the feel of the kid who gets busted shoplifting in a Best Buy... "What your name, son?" "Uh... Phillips Samgooglesung?"

If I were a betting person, I would surmise they had posted that elsewhere and simply copied it into the thread here.

It has a lot of points that many will agree with, so I can see how it was upvoted so quickly.
wtf is Wegmans
Google and Wikipedia or reading some posts above can help with that.

Nice... This year, of all years, is the first that the Weinstein Company made the list. The rapist just edged out the deadly exploding airbag maker, Takata, at the bottom of the list. Both companies are going into bankruptcy.

What's that adage about all publicity being good publicity?

I lost interest when you called it the 'iWatch'.

These ideas, yeah they're cool, but they're a fantasy. It's not possible for half of them to happen.
Saying aggressive ideas are a fantasy is what people said to Steve Jobs when he changed everything and said no, it can be a reality. I'm not defending this long post of this earlier poster, but the attitude that it's impossible, that it's a fantasy, it's just simply not true, given the track record that Steve Jobs had with Apple. Apple had a fraction of the money at that time. Apple lacks ideas, not the ability to make things happen.

The most innovative thing it's done in the last few years is that round office building.

And Aldi? This list is whack.

ALDI is a german grocery chain which brings quality products (many from Europe) to the US at an affordable price. ALDI also sells organic and fair trade products and has been actively removing preservatives and food coloring from its store brand products. It is similar to Trader Joe's and it is one of my favorite places to shop.

Grocery store chain in the NE. Pretty good one too.

Wegmans is one of the best in the northeast. Pricier than ALDI, but still sells high quality products.

Tim Cook Needs to GO!
I have been saying this for years!

My solutions (which Apple did not let me post on their suggestion forum)

Dear Apple,

iWatch

Richard Hofherr

Don't trip when you step down off that soap box. I don't think Apple is hiring for Tim Cook's Job, but if they were calling it an iWatch just removed you from the running.

I have been very, very disappointed with our last 2 purchases. We could be the "poster family" for Apple, with 6 iPhones and perhaps 12 computing products, not to mentions watches and ATVs. But the last 2 products: 13-tbMBP and iPhone 7 have required depot-level returns twice. That is, they failed for either design or manufacturing problems (not abuse or accidents) that required the product to be sent out for repair for 7 days each time - twice for each product. And my 2103 15-MBP needed essentially a complete rebuild after 3.5 years. So while I pay for design, what I really pay for is reliability - and it doesn't seem to be important these days.

Tim has been re-painting Steve's toys for the last seven years. People are getting bored of it. The quality has been going down too.

False. Let’s not forget about the AirPods, the Apple Watch and HomePod, which will all be successful products in the long run. Those are all products o under Tim Cook‘s leadership, especially with AirPods an Apple Watch being highly successful. Seems that you conveniently left those products out of the picture.

FurtherMore, you can’t say their quality control has been going down not knowingly everyone else’s experience with various products. I could make the opposing argument that every Apple product I have purchased in the last five years has been flawless with no problems. So you can’t make a broad stroked statement saying their quality control is going down when others clearly differ from your viewpoint.

Have you tried moving closer to a Reality Distortion Field lamp?

Some here on the forum say that helps them maintain ignorant bliss about the amazing perfection that is all things Apple.

;)

Tim Cook and Apple are receiving what they justly deserve. They have locked me out of my account, and made it so I lost my wedding photos and my daughters phone number. They won't let me into my account eventho I sent proof of my ID, phone purchase proof, box purchase and still use my same email account. They are receiving everything they deserve. I hope they remember what customer service is supposed to be after leaving me locked out of my account since October /November 2017. After hundreds of hours on the phone with their mentally handicapped employees. After uploading documents and many emails. May Apple Rest In Peace. I will never give this company money again. My IPhone 7+ will be in the trash as it truly is a piece of trash when they make it so it can't be used and have locked me out of my account I have had for many, many years.

You must be typing on an iOS device...

Which brings up another recent complaint I have...
For some reason the software keyboard is more error prone than it used to be.
