If it isn’t possible, maybe the product shouldn’t exist.
I am usually on Apple’s side because I agree with most things they come up with. This was one of the no a good idea at all times. They should just bite the bullet and say, you know what, we aim to make great products and we almost always do, but this time we didn’t and we are cutting bait now. Pick any other band and it’s yours. We are donating these to People with disabilities that may need it, with free replacements for as long as we have stock left.

Anyone can foresee that issue which is why I think it is silly to pay $50 for basically what is going to be a disposable band.

If I can do a 5k 3x per week and not have it move down my wrist so I have to futz with it... I'll happily pay $50 every 6 months for the experience.

Pick any other band and it’s yours.

Speak for yourself.

It’s a recent change. They only started doing that as of yesterday. Prior to that a full return was indeed required at the store as well.
That’s NOT what an Apple customer service rep told me over the phone and I told her I was standing outside an Apple store. It looks like the stores are doing exchanges (did it for me). But are they just making exceptions or is Apple changing it’s policy? Online and B&M need to get on the same page.
If someone gets an exchange without going through the required steps, that's an exception. It doesn't invalidate the rule.
Speaking as one of the folks that have worked customer service in retail previously, once you’re in the store, there are options to make corporate and the customer happy simultaneously that doesn’t exist when you’re not physically there.
I can make you think I’ve done an “impossible” exchange when all I’ve done is processed a return, but instead of leaving with a new watch, you leave with the watch you came in with.

I also don't know why they don't have the size guide indicate that if you currently wear a sport band on a 40/44mm watch on "this hole", your size sport band size is this. Would be that much easier for existing users with the sport band.
I like this idea, but I think there may be too many variations/combinations that could confuse the average user. There's the 40/44mm watch size, and there's also the older 38/42mm watch size. There are also different sizes/lengths of the sport band, where the holes are in different places. Not only that, the 40mm band can be used on the 38mm watch, and the 44mm band on the 42mm watch.

A leather loop increases size in time, because leather does it. A Fluorelastomer Loop does not increase in size.
It is the same with shoes or belts. The leather ones do it, the "plastic" ones (sorry...) break in time.

How about they fix it so that if someone gets the wrong size band they can just exchange it without exchanging the whole watch?

That seems to be the biggest issue.

That is only if you have to send it back via a shipping method. If you go into an Apple Store they can do it onsite immediately if they have the right size.

Oh good grief. There is nothing wrong with these bands.

Why should it matter? The watch band comes in a separate box that looks exactly like the band packaging if you bought it by itself. If the store can do a return/exchange then you should be able to do it via mail as well.

I think they made some interesting choices launching these bands, 2 types of band with a very specific fit to the person at the time they measured which means folks that lose weight might well end up with a band that don't fit and folks that get Edema when out on a long exercise (hike) will have something that is tight.

Then there's the new leather link which is clearly replacing the loop (some loops still showing on the page but I bet they will dissapear) - it doesn't seem as secure as the loop system and from the pics I actually don't think it looks as nice and then there's the possibility of it unpeeling that makes, possibly erroneously, the imagination consider.

got my s6 + size 7 solo loop band and put the band on my s4 (no iOS 14 yet.). very slightly too loose. can stick my index finger under it quite easily. probably going to have to order a size 6 and see if apple will eventually take back the size 7.

this sucks!

edit: aaand now that i got up from my desk and walked around this thing is hanging on my wrist like a bracelet. i don't think the HR sensor would work like this, let alone the O2 sat sensor.

I considered the loop for a second, and then realized how snug it would have to be in order to slip on and slip off repeatedly. No gracias.

"may increase in length over time..."

Translation: It will stretch out.

BUT, I'm so glad that it's made of recycled material!! It may not work right, it may not last, and it may cost a lot, but it all goes to a good cause!

Why would anybody want this band anyways?

No buckles to deal with so easier to just pull on?
New colors?
It's stretchy.
It's a new Apple product so why not show it off?

"Band may increase in length over time."
Apple could've just put it in the description instead of the tiny fine print at the bottom of the page.

I still don't understand the environmental point of view that Apple has on their products. They really trying to look like they care and then they make $99 plastic bands that cannot be adjusted for multiple sizes, so it's just another disposable item. I get it, they might look better, but...

How about a recycling program? You bring your old watch band and you will get a 50% discount for a new band (or like half of the price of the previous band)? I don't know, I just don't believe them... it's like with the charger. No charger included? I'm ok with that, but lower the price of the iPhone / Apple Watch (minus retail price of the charger).

It's just business / money as usual... they care only if they won't lose any money.
