It would have to knock my socks off in order for me to buy one. Wearing a watch everyday just seems so... dated...

If this wasn't both annoying and sad,

here comes a new wave of socializing barrier, people staring at their wrist. Apparently communicating has now become dated.

Battery isn't great, that's ok. The iWatch isn't coming to stores on Tuesday. In 3 months, it will have a battery life we can actually be proud of. There's a reason we are not seeing assembly line parts leaking - still in final stages of development.

I really doubt Apple would release something that has crappy battery life.

If the battery lasts 24 hours with heavy use, that would be pretty awesome. What I hate the most is when you're on your way home from a long day and every single device that could help you if you get stuck, lost or in trouble is dead. Right when you need it.

If the thing truly has wireless charging (i.e. can wear it while I sleep and it will charge within 5 ft of the charger station), I would be absolutely fine with 1 day battery life... but it HAS to get my through the full day a heavy use (including up to an hour of GPS tracking for runs).

To me, 1+ days of battery is fine. I charge my phone every night, I can charge a watch, too. It's when it goes less than a day that it becomes a problem.

That is 'average use' battery... for a watch you want at least 2-3days at the minimum IMO. If you get more than 50 emails a day like me, the battery will probably last until lunchtime lol

It's a watch, it better work all day, hopefully 2. My hope is apple has invested a lot more in this an Motorola did theirs

It would seem realistic to think that Apple sunk way more money into this than Motorola and were maybe able to come up with some sort of solution for a slightly better battery life. Apple has billions to spare. Motorola doesn't.

i predict no curve to the display - curves leave less room for parts, since currently very few things are curved. It would leave waisted space. I suppose you could make a curved battery but I still feel they need every millimeter of space in this thing. Brings to mind the rumor of Steve Jobs dunking the iPhone into water and finding air bubbles ;) With current battery tech I think the only way to get serious life out of this thing is to shrink everything as much as they can and leave more room for a larger battery.

What's up with these crappy battery lives if this is true. I understand the capacity is lower but it's a watch, wonder why it would take up so much power. People will definitely be annoyed if this turns out true.

Do you assume it will be no more than a watch?

Really? Do I think it will tell time and nothing else? Obviously, I know it would be more than a watch. I don't think it will offer any features that my phone doesn't that are so appealing to me to want to wear something I don't want to.

When they said bad, I was thinking ugh, it's going to have 4-6 hours of battery life or something.

If it is measured in days, it wont be a problem for me.

Batteries, in general, are WAY overdue for reinvention. It's pretty pathetic how often we rely on them but the tech hasn't changed in soooo long (in tech time).

once a day ? :-O I have always been charging my iPhones AT LEAST twice a day. And I'm not a heavy user. It's been like that ever since my iPhone 3G

lol that is not reality, nor how you create stock for an item you present 3 months ahead of time...

Yeah, with a fresh battery. After 6months to a year... good luck with that

This is 1 beta product I'll definitely be staying away from. I MAY give it consideration on the 2nd or 3rd iteration.

1-2 days? That's sounds about right to me. I bet that's on "mild" usage too. This is a mini computer that does like 16 different things,by the way it just happens to tell time. I actually think using it for the time will be the least used function of this device. So, although the name is "iWatch" .... It's a mini computer that happens to tell time.

Steve would have convinced everyone otherwise. I'm really interested to see how this plays out on Tuesday.

I haven't worn a watch since high school, I can't imagine wanting to wear one now. Just me?

It's not just you. I have a beautiful Rolex that I have worn maybe once in the past 7 years. Just not interested in wearing watches in general. Of course, Apple may change that.. but I'm doubtful.
