if it has wireless charging then whats the big deal

You'd still have to take it off and place it on the charging surface. The only advantages to wireless charging that I can see are that it's slightly easier to place the device on the surface than to plug it in and that it does away with the need for a charging socket thus improving waterproofing prospects.

technically ... if its tied to your iPhone to get any real information or notifications a battery life of more than 1 day becomes redundant anyway as your iPhone will be dead well before then so u may just charge both at the same time

Just you. Grow up. Men wear watches. It's a very useful and nice accessory. Checking your phone every time for time makes you look like a compulsive schoolboy who checks if the girl he likes answered (of course she didn't answer)

you sound old ... "times" change ;) see what i did there

I feel as if a rumors site so dedicated to Apple would have the wherewithal not to post such idiotic mock ups such as this.

Checking your watch compulsively is just as rude..

It would seem realistic to think that Apple sunk way more money into this than Motorola and were maybe able to come up with some sort of solution for a slightly better battery life. Apple has billions to spare. Motorola doesn't.

While there is no doubt Apple poured tons of cash into this project, and that this device will likely be a far superior product in a number of ways, it doesn't mean they were able to solve the battery dilemma.

Surely when stuck between more features and more battery, they probably leaned toward features to make this the most compelling product possible. Battery tech in general is just ******, and not up to the times if you ask me.

I'm expecting battery to be on par with the Moto 360. Two days of battery would be a miracle.

I'll do you one better, theoretical Apple employees. I'll set NO expectations until I have some idea about what the thing does! Deal?

+1

Needs to be at least 2 days battery life. People expect to charge a phone every night now, but are used to forgetting about their watches which are either automatic (kinetic) or have year long quartz life.

Or are solar powered.

So this is how Apple plans to conquer Switzerland? Poor marketing in my opinion, the employees need a morale boost.

My mechanical Swiss watches wind themselves through kinetic movement, they don't even need a battery.

I don't know as you well know.
But as we know, Apple only really makes cases for the most part, does some design work on layouts, and writes the software to tie it all together.

They don't actually make components.
Screens, batteries, camera's, CPU/GPU's, Memory chips etc etc etc.

So someone, perhaps Samsung or LG, may be making it's screens as we speak.

So basically you're saying Apple takes off the shelf parts made by others and stickers them in a case. Thanks for providing me a good laugh for the day.

Just curious...what are the current 600+ hardware engineering job openings at Apple for then exactly?

Really people? You can't know the time without a watch? I have my phone for the time...which is always with me. I'm in healthcare.

I'm glad for you and your profession you're in,but I think your comment falls under "just because it's not funtional for you don't assume it isn't for others."

Have you ever seen a police officer? Do you notice what's on his/her wrist? I don't think it would be safe for him/her to pull out thier phone while writing someone a ticket on the side of the road.

Also I jog everyday after work. It would be a heck of a lot easier to see what time it is as I pace myself by looking at my wrist than my phone.

Would you like a big rig driver or taxi driver to pull out their phone to see the time while they're driving? And before you say it... No,not all cars have a time display, specially big rigs.

Now I'm not saying this is something everyone will buy,but I can understand how some may love it and some won't. However I won't be baffled just because someone els doesn't share my point of view.

Oh and I'll put my info at the bottom since you started the trend.

You wear a watch - who cares? I don't wear a watch - who cares? The only reason any of us are talking about it is because we're having fun trying to guess how the market will react to a rumoured product.

Meanwhile, you are ridiculing anyone who disagrees or behaves differently from you. Maybe it's you who needs to grow up.

He's probably some Millennial or younger, you know, from the clueless generations.

What makes us clueless?

Wow. My not wearing a watch means I need to grow up? Why am I checking it compulsively? So you check your watch compulsively? Where's the hostility coming from?

OLD men wear watches. Middle-aged men wear watches.

There definitely is a generation gap when it comes to many things, in this case, wearing watches. I find watches uncomfortable, redundant (I have my phone) and in the case people spend hundreds and hundreds (maybe thousands) on them...pretentious.

Never said that. Not for the most part, although the iMacs and macbooks probably use a lot of stock items.

If you read I said they don't make things
they may spec things, request certain designs, or do design work in some areas.

But I think we all know there is not a secret Apple factory churning out Apple computing components.

Who makes iPhone screens, memory chips, modem chips, the glass, the camera etc etc?
It's not Apple.
they have factories and buy machines to make housings.

When did I say since I don't like watches nobody should wear them? I understand in some professions and in some situations they are preferable. You guys are the ones making this a big deal. I don't care if others wear watches. I just don't.

Well it means you have to bring a charger with you when you travel - another thing to pack and to lose. But not a big deal to me at all.

The best solution would be to use the same charging system as an iphone. I don't see myself owning one, but I think if it needs to be charged daily and it does not use a lightning connector it will be a mistake. Not having to take another charger would be a plus.

OK, some like watches and some do not. Period. I am in the older age range (60) and have not liked wearing a watch for years. I recently started wearing a couple of watches I have that were gifts. A guess watch that a daughter gave me in the 90's, in the 100.00 range then, and a caravelle by bulova that was in the same range at the same time. Not expensive by any means, but have meaning to me.

So, no need to fight over personal preference.
