Wow a month before summer (which is when it’s supposed to launch). Hopefully it goes live next month.

It’s just a credit card, but I’m excited about it.

The only thing I can see to get excited about is for apple purchases.... help me if I'm wrong.

I have a Capital One Silver - 1.5% cash back (better than apple)
And a Amazon Card - 5% on Amazon purchases, 2% on gas and such...

So, how is this Apple Card anything to get excited about outside of the obvious Apple purchases?

2% everywhere when using Apple Pay. There are other cards that match that rate. It just comes down to how much you like Apple and some of the benefits if the card. It will be great for most people but isn't as good as other cards for those who understand card churning and bonuses.

Good info. I didn't realize it was also 2% for Apple Pay purchases. Just not a lot of places where I am take apple Pay (or the business just doesn't know how to do it).

The integration with Apple Wallet, that whole experience in itself is cool/unique. 3% back on Apple purchases and 2% when you use Apple Pay. The card is cool looking.

People want what they want. If you need to struggle to convince yourself to get it, then don’t. You only have 1 life to live. If you’re an Apple fan and want an Apple credit card, that’s totally ok.

Simple.

I think it’s meant to be used in place of a debit card while still getting rewarded. Hence the reason why it has no fees, just like your debit card. Also 3% on anything purchased from Apple, including their subscription services and purchases from their digital stores. It’s actually a pretty good card to be honest.

You can also pay for many things online with Apple Pay.

I just cannot be excited about this. Benefits are way better with AmEx Plat.

Unless you travel extensively they are most certainly not better. And American Express customer service is horrible. I canceled my platinum as soon as Apple card was announced.

I wish I were excited about this

You must be more excited than you let on since you took the time to click on the article and post a comment.

I can't believe the level of fanboyism for some folks with this. I get 2% on all purchases on a Visa, which is taken everywhere unlike MasterCard. Physical or Apple Pay, doesn't matter, 2% all the time.

Also I don't get why some people are so hyped about the look of it when the the whole point of Apple Pay, to get the 2% CB, is that you don't have to carry a card around. It's just a flip'n card that other CC's have better benefits. Numbers folks, do that actual math.

Who users magstrips these days ? An't most all chip based now? or those use still prefer the ATM. I guess "cashless" would be good... Many ATM's allow this. and even this is better than a magstrip.

We'd get excited just to see a pudding roll down a hill as well.

There are a lot of businesses that still haven't converted to chip. Many of them already have the hardware, they just haven't converted the software yet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The liability is entirely on the merchant at this point, so if it were my business you know I'd be converted.

Interestingly, it isn't the little mom-and-pop places, most of them use Square or similar and have chip (and Apple Pay) all set. Larger businesses seem to be more prevalent.

Plus, pay-at-the-pump gas pumps still are largely magstripe, at least where I live.

Cracker Barrel still swipes. Embarrassing.

In trying to go as contactless as possible, started using the BPme app for gas purchases.
