I think they are referring to the original iPhone in 2007.

Right. And I'm saying there were other products that people thought were overpriced and Apple did not lower the price shortly after launch. No one calling this product overpriced has any factual basis for doing so. We don't know BOM, we don't know how much Apple has spent on R&D, marketing, retail etc. And we have zero sales or financial figures.

I was not disagreeing with you. They are trying to use that as their sole evidence, as weak as it is.

Hmm, I must have been imagining this then, huh?

A $200 price drop in less than 3 months.

I swear some people here have very selective memories.

Yes, welcome to 2007. And I swear some people try to use weak evidence to try and prove nothing.

We actually do know R&D

Yes, welcome to 2007.

You're missing the point. It was a new product line (read: Apple Watch), that did not take off in sales as much as they expected it to, so the price was cut.

I fully expect the Apple Watch to drop in price too after the first 4-6 months. It's just not priced competitively.

From where?

We heard the same things about iPad mini and iPhone 5C and neither of those had a price drop.

they're desperate and it shows

this thing might move a couple million units, but the media echo chamber will declare it a flop.

not saying that's fair, but I fully expect the apple marketing machine to go head to head with the media-at-large.

I was not missing any point. Since 2007 there have been many new Apple products after the iPhone all of which have not had that type of price drop within a few months of being released. I guess we will all have to wait and see how the market responds to the Apple watch even tough you have this insight into being a overpriced sales flop.

Right and that was their first phone ever, especially entering a business where phones are subsidized. It wasn't that they purposely overpriced it, they didn't know how to price it properly.

But tell us sir, could you recall any other time (more recent than 8 years ago....roll eyes) that Apple dropped the price on their products shortly after release? Of course you can't.

And this is their first watch ever, entering a business where there are smartwatches aplenty. Likewise, I don't feel they know how to price it properly.

We shall see what happens in 4-6 months after the initial excitement dies down.

Well that is over half way to paying for the AppleCare plus for the edition ;)

A lot of Apple's products are ridiculously overpriced. You can feel like you're probably paying too much for something but still see enough value in it to make the purchase. And you can own Apple products and still think they're overpriced without being a hypocrite.

The price of smartphones (not just iPhones) are a great example.

$800+ for an unlocked iPhone 6? Give me a break. The only reason the masses have them is because their prices are significantly reduced with contract renewal. Not because consumers think $800 is a fair price.

It makes no sense whatsoever to say something is overpriced, but then see value in it. One might say, "Apple's products are VERY expensive", but still see value and then buy it, but if you feel something is just plain overpriced then yes, it IS hypocritical to still buy it.

The world is not as black and white as you make it out to be, Henry. You should really stop trying to label people to your own specifications.

Says the guy with a Retina Macbook Pro, iPad 2 and an iPhone 6/64GB. By saying something is overpriced but then still buy them makes you appear hypocritical.

As a matter of interest, two of those product ranges were priced too high when initially released and were reduced in price shortly after.

None of us know if Apple have got their prices right for the Watch but we'll find out in a few months time when we get an indication on how successful it is.

Looks like you're dying to be right about them reducing the prices. More than likely you'll be wrong.

Well, yeah. Of course I hope I'm right.

I want to be able to pick up an Apple Watch at a fair price. The sooner it drops, the sooner I'll get one.

Apple's products are just that much better than others. Supply and demand... they can sell for whatever they want and people buy because they are worth almost the same price years later. Last year Apple sold a record amount of iPhones while Samsung dropped 21%. Even though Apple's iPhone's are overpriced.

You know the products must be good if the same people keep bashing relentlessly. It's very sad. Why else would someone spend all day on an Apple Forum trying to convince you that the product is overpriced? lol

I hope Apple does lower the price like people are saying. Apple keeps making more and more money so they must be doing something right.

How very and strangely religious of you, Henry.

Are you here to show us all the way?

The only person that will get upset is you when you've finally decided to be honest with yourself about being wrong....as usual.

I've got no reason to lie, and even if I did I wouldn't, I could tell you another couple of things he said about it but I won't, it's already well known and I wouldnt like to upset the devoted ones.

 To all MR guests viewing this thread: Here on your 8th page, you can see how some people on MacRumors are savages when in the presence of a person with a different opinion. Please retreat to the 9to5Mac forums just to be safe ;).

1st one I remember 2008 MacBook Air.

And there are a number of others..... Research it before you reply!!! Your statement was inaccurate.

Reminds me of the days in the 80s when certified developers got 50% off Macs. There weren't quite as many of us then.. That discount has long since dwindled down to nuthin - though the $500 developer annual fee is down to $99.
