Anyway... this tablet has so much hype when it's finally released if it doesn't cure cancer people are going to have fits

Lol ain't that right!!:p. I personally don't see why this rumour is even up. Surely it's just wasting server space. We already have plenty of rumours n info on this tablet. Which believe me might be cool when it comes out n end up being a game changer for the computer industry. But it's been beaten to death for the last 6/7 years.

I hope its soon then no more threads like this. ;). Although undoubtably some people will complain about it's spec!! :) lol.

There have been tablet PCs around for quite a while now, and yet, strangely, nobody seems to be using them. Could it be that those tablet machines actually don't fulfill any real purpose?

Gee, I don't know, could it be that most tablets are 1.5" think, weigh at least 3.5-4lbs, run on Win XP and use a stylus to perform the same functions as a standard laptop.

Really, this has already been discussed to death. If you don't see the usefulness by now, that's OK, they're not for everyone.

How funny would this be? Apple drops out of MacWorld because "it doesn't work with their product release/update timelines" and then they release a brand new "earth-shattering" product in January.

Oh the irony! Except, I for one don't think this is going to happen. Not this soon anyway.

Oh god! I thought it was bad enough when TMZ was harrassing D-list celebs at LAX. Now fanboys are hanging out at San Jose Airport to watch the comings and goings of faceless Apple Engineers?

Game Changer Predictions

Just a post I made here in the forums a month ago. Feel free to flame - being a newbie to MacRumours forum, I just used some of my "employment challenged" time to absorb and rationalize Apple related news into what I thought would be a true game changer tablet (by Apple). Who knows? I might get to say told you so or that it was pure fantasy...

Apple dropped out because they didn't want to foot the bill for all the 'piggybacker' companies at MacWorld.

January is a good time to announce new products because you need something to encourage people to spend even more money after the holiday season. I have no doubt that Apple will announce new products in January 2010. Whether they do this to intentionally overshadow MacWorld is a different question.

Well, from the article, it sounds like some "friend" is paying a little too much attention to someone's personal blog/Twitter/Facebook/Flickr/[pick any/all] account.

Finland

I was thinking about going to Finland, but now I'm concerned that someone might think that I'm working with Nokia. Definitely have to rule out ever going to Seattle, again.

The Matrix - Alpha 1.0

Well if they work together... The Apple MacBook Tablet, preferably an OS X incarnation... and Google WAVE... [Thanks to my Googlplex Australian compatriots...]

Then collaboratively the Tablet will be one of the most awesome things to arrive... for... :apple: ... 2010 !

I can't wait to see this thing, I hope it lives up to all the hype(although it won't, but it will be a good product):D

I think it will blow us away, and live up to the hype. Apple has obviously been pretty diligent about taking its sweet *** time with the tablet, and I expect a product that redefine's the genre.

I really believe that the Mac Tablet will be to the tablet and netbook world what the iPhone has become for the smartphone/cell market: a major market catalyst. It isn't just going to be some tablet. It's going to make us think different about mobile computing.

Apple wouldn't premiere a tablet that resembles anything else on the market. I really hope it runs some sort of Mac OS instead of a souped up iPhone OS, but I'm sure anything that I'm expecting won't quite be on target.

I'm excited to see it at the very least. If its somewhere in the $600-$800 range, I can definitely see myself getting one.

Has anyone considered that the reason might be related to the iPhone launching in China? There are some hardware differences (Wifi disabled in the first batch, etc).

"A Unicom spokesman, Yi Difei, said the company hopes to have WiFi in the next batch of phones.

"We are talking with Apple and expect the problem to be solved by the end of this year," Yi said."

It's a big market - they might be sending engineers over...

It wont be just an enlarged iPod touch..

Why do some people think its gonna be a large ipod touch running iPhone OS? How could that benefit anybody ? The point of an iPod touch is that it is portable but still big enough to watch movies and videos. Can you imagine going around with a 7inch screen tucked into your pocket, if it even fits in your pocket? Its gonna be like one of those computers which the people in star trek carry around while talking to their captain. Its going to offer something unique and new. Steve Jobs said himself that if he didnt feel that Apple could offer something new and exciting to the market, he wouldnt bother.

/\ I think it will be something like this

My guess right now is that Apple is closely working with engineers at Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn) at their Taiwan engineering facility and their production facility in Shenzhen (just north of Hong Kong) to finalize the tablet specs.

$2, 24" screen, 0.5mm thick, free internet, dvd & blueray, 1 exabyte hard drive, free mobile broadband for life (999gb a second), 1TB RAM, quad core 9999ghZ processor?

Oh and it will be able to withstand a nuclear bomb.

Whatever happens, people will find something to moan about :)

If those engineers are really flying to China they must be in the mass production process already.
As far is i know the production is in Shenzhen, China but product development is in Taiwan or the US.

The moment you have to balance an object, screen, tablet on your forearm, you are going to run into problems. The handheld devices worked because a person can grasp it easily. Try holding and balancing that Tablet on your forearm for 10+ mins, you will find yourself placing it on a desk or table and if you are going to do that you might as well have a more powerful notebook.

Curious to see the :apple: marketing spin on this. Love the hype it only makes it more interesting. :D

I plan to be resing mine on my lap, in bed, watching the news as I sip coffee.

But back to the title of the thread:

For all we know he i going there to talk about the front facing camera for iPhone 4th gen, or getting USB3 into the next iMacs.
