Yup. It was a sensible choice AND it retains the iconic silhouette.
Yep some of the forum member here complaining about the white bezels and colours have to take a walk through iMac’s history with Bondi Blue, translucent, and the all white similar design iMac G5. The black bezels might be reserved for the “Pro” models.

How is it underwhelming when it is exactly the intended market?
I find it strange that Apple decided to keep the chin, why not a further reduction or elimination. Maybe to keep the iconic design, but it’s getting long in the tooth. Apple could have literally made the M1 iMac guts modular and it would be one of the greenest iMacs ever offered.

Yep, nothing much in differences.

Except for the OS, the primary means of interaction, the ability/inability to attach/detach the keyboard & trackpad, the ability to use the Pencil on it, the amount of ports, the screen size, the amount of precision/imprecision necessary, the ability to touch/keep finger dirt off the screen, and the portability (or lack thereof).

For starters.

These are just extension options. Given the same hardware both can run iOS or MacOS, all attached devices should be possible. iPad should be able to attach to an external screen. From the sounds of it, the iPad is an iMac in a smaller pack

That is a very Microsoft point of view, which Apple does not share.

Putting your pickup truck's V8 in a car does not turn the car into a truck.

However, that car is now a MUSCLE car, which opens up new possibilities (still not related to a truck).
