now, after the liquid sh*t, here's the droppings ..
i can't wait to see the general reception worldwide, it's gonna be a disaster ..

there's some people at apple in desperate needs of being fired. apple is positioning itself to break microsoft records of the worst UI ever made. it's terrible from every angle you're looking at it. the ergonomics, the inconsistencies, the remnants of past UIs still buried in there, the readability, the absurd abuse of transparency, the terrible choices of colors .. i have never seen anything like it.. and they seem proud about it.. the wake up call is gonna be hard. it's gonna be epic to see their faces when they'll finally realize what they've done. the world won't be able to stop laughing for quite some time.

I feel like we should build an arc, this imminent doom is going to be quite the show; disaster, desperate, worst ever, terrible at every angle, absurd abuse, terrible choices, never seen anything like it, epic, the world won’t be able to stop laughing… ☠️🤣🔫

Honest question: are the people complaining here really planning to switch to a Pixel or Galaxy, or do they just want Apple to add more features so they can stick with their iPhones?

My 13 mini still works, I don't have a reason to upgrade.

When they stop doing security updates for it, I'll be switching though.

I don't want more features, I just want Apple to make great products instead of releasing buggy software with subscriptions for every single feature. I miss Steve.

I sure as hell hope they will have ”one more thing” and release an iPad mini pro. Then all would be forgiven.

I do not plan to switch from my iPhone 15PM.
I do not want any new half-baked features from Apple in iPhones. I want Apple to be focused on a product more rather than on their profits. Thus, I want Tim Cook gone.

To be fair, the colour scheme is reminiscent of this

Not so much a facade as an exterior frame made of titanium alloy. Aluminum alloys are generally much easier to work with, and it sounds like Apple engineers found an aluminum alloy that works for the exterior frame.
They bonded titanium to aluminum, which is why the layers can be differentiated. It is impressive engineering and manufacturing and shows that the frame was primarily aluminum. This makes the change this year relatively minor.

If all the people who have said across multiple threads that they are completely underwhelmed and won’t be ordering this year keep their word, I’ll have no problem getting my 17PM on launch date.
This is my hope lmao. So far I’ve had no problems ordering as soon as pre orders go live so with all this negativity I’m confident that my luck will continue!

My theory:

September 9, 2025 = 9/9/2025

Add all numbers: 9+9+2+0+2+5=27

That day, the moon will be at 95% illumination: 95% of 27 is 25.65

Earth to Moon distance will be 227,014 miles: 227,014 + 25.65 = 227,039.65

Now let's decipher each digit in 227,039:

Tim Cook's favorite number is 7
2+7=9
The ninth letter in the alphabet is i

Greg Woswiak’s favorite number is 14
2+14=16
Sixteenth letter is p

Johny Srouji’s favorite number is 1
7+1=8
Eighth letter is h

Lisa Jackson’s favorite number is 15
0+15=15
Fifteenth letter is o

Katherine Adams’s favorite number is 11
3+11=14
Fourteenth letter is n

Phil Schiller doesn’t have a favorite number, but his least favorite number is 4
9-4=5
Fifth letter is e

Put all letters together, we get iPhone

That day, the moon will enter the 2nd lunar mansion precisely at 8:52am.
Add all numbers together: 2+8+5+2=17

iPhone 17 is confirmed!

🤣

Will it be iPhone 26 to go along with iOS 26. It would nice if they synchronize iPhone and iOS numberings.

Agreed. My guess is “iPhone (2026)” on the product sticker (back of box) and software but simply referred to as “iPhone” throughout the presentation.

They already do something similar with the iPhone SE and have done so with Macs for ages.

Don't forget their new buzz phrases: "a whole new level/next level," "game changer/changing," "best in class," "truly X," etc.
“Most advanced”
I’ll take my notebook and count the words: "new," "incredible," and "beautiful" and also "amazing," "best," "great," and "exciting"
My wife and I once considered playing a drinking game based on Apple event superlatives but decided against it for health reasons.

They don’t want a UI downgrade, some, including me, are disappointed they wasted their time with this desaster instead of actual features and QOL improvements.
They don’t want to switch.
Some might if the culture responsible for this won’t change.

Both options have potential; if you're ambivalent about brand, then all phones will all make calls, so you compare the feel, spec's, and price, and buy the one you prefer.

I think a tug of war happens when you're a tech enthusiast and loyal to one brand; your tech enthusiast side loves comparing other offerings, and your loyal fan side hopes that your favoured brand remains so by being reliable, innovative, affordable, and trustworthy. Kodak and Nokia are both extreme examples of how not keeping up can see a brand exited out the door.

Brand loyalty, I believe, is earned over multiple positive experiences, and in the iPhone's case (no pun intended) includes both hardware and software reliability, aesthetics, innovations, and spec's, that appeal to someone. Loyalty is lost more quickly though, like trust, and if disillusionment setes in, and grows, the loyalty continues to erode, even though we may be willing to overlook and accept some shortcomings.

I would expect switching brands, for someone loyal, happens when that loyalty has been eroded to the degree it, begrudgingly, is no longer viable.

I'm not sure naming the event "awe dropping" is a good choice. You want a show where there's constant awe, not one where the awe drops.
It may be a dangerous tagline indeed. Awe, and awesome, are over-used in some people's vocabulary these days. Saving two bucks at the cash register is not awesome; you do not stand there in awe, having your breath taken away. Having said that, if Apple are saying their next line up is going to generate awe, then that's a big call. Fingers crossed they deliver said awe.

It really is. It absolutely surprises me that people are willing to go all the way there, just to watch a video on a screen.
They go to be the first one to post a YouTube video with hands on, because those videos generate ad revenue for them. Literally no other reason for them to show up.

Miss the in-person events. The current 'events' feel like boring informercials, and I hardly ever watch them anymore.

Apple: Yes, I know you like recorded videos because you can prevent any chance of mistakes, but hey, there is a reason people go to live concerts.
