"Love the Fold. Hate the Price!" 😁

I'm curious if prices will actually go up. Apple increased prices back in the spring, most likely to blunt the criticism of getting pushback once new devices are released.

I'm not necessarily convinced iPhone prices are going up right now. The iPhone is Apple's bread and butter product. It's possible the prices on the Mac and Apple TV were increased because those are more "disposable income" purchases.

My opinion is that people buying an expensive Mac are less price sensitive than those buying an iPhone.

I think the "Surprise and Shine" bit might refer at least partly to the rumoured Home Hub, possibly something to do with an annoying Siri/AI Assistant who greets you in the morning and announces your calendar events, shows you the local news and weather, etc.

A bit like HAL in 2001: A Space Odyssey but (hopefully) less homicidal

Nooooo it's during my dentist appointment, as I feared. This is a tragedy 😢

I've never missed a live Apple event since I started watching them in 2017.
There hasn’t been a live event for serveral years now. All that stuff was pre-recorded. His will be too. No way they’ll do live “live” like back in the days. Too much space for critics to complain and point out the minor improvements and pice hikes.

A few years ago I actually enjoyed watching Apple events. Back when they were live, there was something almost magical about them — even the occasional mistakes made them feel human. The prerecorded events were interesting at first, but now everything feels incredibly artificial and predictable.

We already know almost everything that’s going to be announced months in advance. At this point, the only real surprise left is the price. And with Apple’s prices shooting into the stratosphere lately, even that has killed much of the excitement. Instead of thinking “I can’t wait to buy this,” I’m increasingly thinking, “Why would I pay that much for it?”

I’ve owned every iPhone generation except the 3G, but this year I’m not planning to buy the iPhone 18.
