touch screen iMac! really?

It has been suggested in previous post, but I will emphasize it again: do you really think a touch screen for a 20" computer is a wise thing? Apart from the trouble of moving back and forward in order to reach the screen each time, can you imagine the amount of dirt and fat that the screen will gather after a few hours or days?

No you don't understand what i mean. When you work on your desk, you connect in sort of a docking system and then work with keyboard and mouse. While you browse Safari, watch movies, photos, google maps, in your garden iPhone style. The size of this device can be smaller as in the past. Noticed that the iPhone is 160 dpi instead of 72.

What i think that will coming tonight (Europe time;))

Touchscreen iMac.

Why?

Why Not?
Let's think about all the patents, the recent used technology in the iPhone, buying Fingerworks, the great succes of the iPhone etc.

But wait, you can't work with your big fat fingers in photoshop! You must have a mouse and a keyboard for this sort of work. Now that's where the fun starts to happen. An iMac with a dock for working on a desktop. Eject the iMac and it will be a tablet with iPhone similar interface, only bigger, with a decent keyboard. Here's a simple mock-up i made a few months ago:

Don't care about the design, but look at my idea... :)

i'd buy it.

Me too, although I would only buy it for the design, it's amazing.

Not really a fan of touchscreen/tablet computers...

I would love it to have some parts of the screen as touchscreen, such as the dock, a touchpad/screen would be great on the keyboard, the problem with a touchscreen computer, it would be really cool but a mouse is sooo much quicker.

Touchscreen is Good for,
scrolling,
showing off
moving windows around
in some case much much quicker then a mouse

Bad for
your arm
you would look silly
in some cases much much slower then a mouse

BUT if there were touchscreen imacs, I WOULD DEFINATLY buy it

Remember that Apple also patented a multi-touch mouse... :)

Indeed. It is a stupid idea to have a desktop mac with Multitouch. If it's a tablet, that's a different story. But a desktop mac with Multitouch makes no sense whatsoever. Noone wants to interface with a screen, at a desk, lifting their arms up across the desk to play with the screen, when a perfectly good mouse and keyboard are at their disposal.
