It all depends on what "iMac revision" means... Whether it's an outpatient procedure or major surgery. Here's hoping for the latter!

sounds good to me...BUT i think .mac revision will immediate and all that Mac and game stuff probably will be talked about. Not sure about beatles though..???? Hopefully aa new laptop or new mid range blasted tower... That will make everyone happy

Did any one read the game news today on appleinsider? "Command & Conquer 3 will be revolutionized right here on August 7th, be sure to check back!," the company wrote in a web posting.
I know this is probably a dream. But what if this means that the new iMac will have a touch screen simaller to the iPhone. Any ideas???? or thoughts
This has been brought up many times, Multitouch on iMac. This is the WORST IDEA EVER. There's not one good reason to put Multitouch on a desktop PC! Why would anyone want to have their arms up over their desk to interface with their computer, when we have a perfectly functional mouse and keyboard for that?! I don't understand why anyone would even suggest it.

My predictions (in no particular order)-

-New versions of iLife and iWork will be demoed, to be released with Leopard -iLife now a part of OS X
-New iMacs with new keyboards
-Mac Mini updated with new form factor, faster processor, better graphics
-A specific Leopard release date announced
-One more thing: Preorder Leopard and get access to the beta! (not likely :( )

Thank you.

I don't understand why people have such hard-ons for this smudge filled idea.

I can see the first 5 but the last one will NEVER happen.except for the very first version of OS 10.0

Would I call AppleTV or iPhone Macs? Certainly not. Neither would I call an OSX iPod a Mac. To me, a Mac is a Personal Computer. The same way I wouldn't refer to a Palmtop running Windows Mobile a PC. It has a processor, RAM, internal storage, I can browse the internet on it, word process, but I still wouldn't call it a personal computer.

I do appreciate your point however, the line is becoming increasingly blurred. Not just in Apple products but everywhere.

Thats just my opinion, I don't want to get drawn into a semantics debate. Theres no 100% correct answer. :)

I would say there is a correct answer - at least from Apple. Just look at their website - there are three main button reflecting their three main business. If you click the Mac button you will see what belongs to the Mac business from Apples perspective.

Totally agree with you man. How difficult would multi touch be to use on a 20"-24" screen. Touch screens are for kiosks, and small screens/areas not desktop monitors.

We could find multi-touch integrated into a future apple mouse or keyboard though.

I would be really happy with something that looks like that last one in particular. The second black one is cool as well.

Nice work man

Interesting mockups, kon, but I don't like the two-toned scheme. The bezel needs to also be black.

I really like the idea of a black anodized case however - a plain aluminum case would be quite similar to the current white plastic (just in the look). I've never liked the black plastic Macbook, but this looks decent.

can anyone confirm by PM what time BST the event is taking place?

Is it 6PM BST?

PM pls as I have the slowest connection in this hotel and won't be able to check again till tomorrow afternoon (BST) or so.

TIA

i do not understand why people think redesigned imac means, change the machine, leave the stand untouched. that is way too half-ass for ive. i think that the mockups are derived so much off of the current design that they lack the vision needed to meet apple's standard of a redesigned system. i appreciate the insight attempted by the renderings, i simply think that it shows where normal minds stop and ive/jobs begin.

i may be totally wrong tomorrow afternoon.

ps: if they do not release new imacs tomorrow, i am going to go into my backyard take all the cash i have waiting for my system and light it on fire.

Woa! before you do that mail it to me :)

I agree on the "Vision" distinction.

Well the event will be at -7 GMT. 5 PM over there.

Very good list. You have a good handle on Apple's spiel. Only problem I see with your list is, they wouldn't pre-announce a new iPod. Doesn't really make sense.

True. However, the iPod is due an upgrade (September 2006 was the last). I think this makes sense as there won't be anything special in the upgrae for the iPod in my view.
I am pretty sure there won't be a new touch screen, probably not even a widescreen version. The only things likely to chage will be the form of the iPod (brushed aluminum anyone?) and the use of NAND flash memory (in my opinion a step backwards, as NAND flash iPods would have a smaller storage space than hard drive iPods).

I think there will be a pre-announcement of this because. From september, Leopard should be going "gold master" and Apple will want all the focus on the build up for the Leopard launch. (expect a mass of new adverts) They will not want any distractions in marketing it. Leopard, is arguably the best chance Apple have of taking "big" slice of the market. The "tepid" reception of Vista, Mac's continual sales growth and with the announcement that "Cider" will be used to transfer PC games to the Mac, its important to start targeting PC's users (especially gamers) with the message "why upgrade to Vista...upgrade to a Mac". A new iPod launched in September would be a distraction in my eye.
