Indeed. Here in the US:

Base is 1999 USD. Unfortunately there don't seem to be any customization builds that reduce that price further.

$1999 for an M1 Max and 500 GB of storage, that does not come with a display or keyboard, is basically Apple saying, "we're just not giving away M1 Max for less than 2 Gs"

There is no way it should cost this much when a full MacBook Pro with M1 Max costs a mere $500 more.

No thanks on either. Monitor too small and expensive. Studio is going to be too power for what I do and too expensive. Looking for mini that does 32 GB.
Same, really wanted the M1 Pro in a mini/studio as the M1 Max is more than I need and want to pay.

Although I'm a bit disappointed by the display, it does make sense.

- Similar 5k 27" monitors cost almost as much
- Mini-led and Promotion 120HZ are way too expensive, there's a reason why the XDR display costs that much

They just had to offer a display that goes with the Mac Studio right now, and this is the best they could do. If you want MiniLED and Promotion for this price... wait 5 years +

The entry level Studio being at $1,999 (on par with the entry level MacBook Pro) implies that there's still some sort of a Mac mini upgrade along the line, right? I really can't imagine this replacing the more affordable Mac mini.

so the pseudo iMac is basically $3600 and doesn't even get miniLED or ProMotion. hard pass. idk why any of you guys are spending money on the monitor. PC monitors are not worse than apple monitors. trust me.
They are if you want a 5K one, because there aren’t any. The whole PC monitor space has coalesced around lower resolutions and higher refresh rates (in higher quality displays) because of the gaming thing where refresh rates are valued over resolution or color accuracy. So they all pretty much top out at 4K at most, and lots more are sold at 1440p or even 1080p.

That said, for $2000, I’d want the mini-LED backlighting of the MacBook Pro displays. Until that (and >60Hz refresh rates) comes to this product, count me out.

The PPI is good enough, you see no pixels looking at 4K movies from the couch. So it is “retina” too.
Good enough != same. There is no 4K TV on the market that can be used the same as a monitor and have the same experience. Even that 48" C1 has to be placed at the very back of a desk.

Time to sell my Apple stock this was horrible they're trying to create value in something that doesn't have that much value is so sad I'd rather have a 27 inch iMac upgrade then this horrible monitor and box thing again it's ridiculous. I've just found another way to sucker people into spending another fortune no thank you.
Selling stock over a typical product announcement is foolish.

M1 Pro in the Studio with 32GB/500GB SSD for $1500 would have been nice.

a) it would have not been that cheap (think $1699)
b) the current base would be at least $100 more if it was a BTO

Base is 2299€ so I guess I'm gonna be a sucka for that price....

I'm glad I don't need any of this, because it's a lot of cash and it sure looks nice! Too much temptation.

What a time to be alive, where an iPad Air can fill pretty much ALL my (home) computing needs.

I can't wait to see if they do anything with the iPad Pro, and what they actually do with the Mac Pro.
Computers aren’t cars. You’re going to be miffed every year if you buy any PC. I have an 11th gen Intel gaming PC and guess what 12th gen Intel is out now. I could be miffed but why? It’s still works and I can still play games on it. Sure there’s a faster version. Next year there’s going to be a 4090 GPU out that just stomps the performance of my GPU but guess what I could still game on my PC next year. That’s just how things work with computers.
I bought a 2021 Toyota carolla NOW THERES A 2022 CAROLLA with 3mpg better and a new head unit????!?!!?!?

ABSURD GREED

So they just killed the 27" iMac product line!!! I double-checked the UK and USA stores and there are no references to 27" iMac anymore so it's all gone!!! Good Bye large iMacs!

All they had to do was to fatten that same Studio display a little and glue the M1 MAX chip inside and I would have been happy. But no, Apple wants me to buy two separate products instead...

The 512GB of storage on the base Mac Studio still feels like nickel and diming., I see they have a good 32GB of RAM as a base but 1TB of SSD isn't too much to ask for when you are paying $2K.

The Mini Ultra seems a bit more overpriced at double the price, but at least they have something that is now a Pro grade desktop.
